Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece was named to the 2015 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced Tuesday. It marks the third-straight selection for Reece, who earned Pro Bowl accolades in both 2012 and 2013. S Charles Woodson and LB Khalil Mack were named as alternates for the annual all-star game, slated to be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on January 25, 2015.
One of the NFL's most versatile players, Reece has played in 14 games with 14 starts this season. He has rushed for 74 yards on 20 attempts, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Reece enjoyed one of his best performances of the season in a 24-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at O.co Coliseum on Nov. 20. He finished the game with eight carries for 37 yards, posting 30 of those yards on Oakland's late game-winning drive.
The 6-foot-1, 250-pound fullback has also posted 34 catches for 235 yards on the year. He recorded his first touchdown of the season in the Raiders' 24-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 7. The touchdown came on a 9-yard pass from QB Derek Carr in the third quarter and marked his ninth career receiving score, which ranks tied for seventh all-time among Raider running backs.
The native of Inglewood, Calif., joined the Raiders in 2008 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Washington, where he played wide receiver. Reece spent the entire 2008 season and the majority of the 2009 campaign on the Raiders' practice squad, becoming a starter for the Silver and Black in 2010. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate in 2011.
