Raiders QB Derek Carr Selected To Third Consecutive Pro Bowl

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr was named to his third Pro Bowl, the NFL announced Monday. Carr, who was selected as an alternate, replaces Patriots QB Tom Brady.

Carr joins teammates C Rodney Hudson, DE Khalil Mack, G/T Kelechi Osemele and T Donald Penn as Raiders Pro Bowlers, giving the team five selections to the annual all-star game in Orlando, Fla.

Earning his third straight selection, Carr becomes the third quarterback in franchise history to be named to at least three Pro Bowls, joining Ken Stabler and Rich Gannon, who each earned four selections.

In 2017, Carr started 15 games, throwing for 3,496 yards on 323-of-515 passing (62.7 percent) with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a passer rating of 86.4. He also added 23 rushes for 66 yards.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder also collected numerous awards throughout the 2017 campaign, earning the FedEx Air Player of the Week for his Week 7 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. In helping the Raiders to a 31-30 victory, Carr's 417 passing yards were tied for the fourth most in a game in franchise history. He was also named the Raiders' nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season, an award presented each year to the NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. Additionally, Carr was named the club's winner of the Ed Block Courage Award, honoring those who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.
