In Week 14, the Oakland Raiders traveled to Kansas City for a Thursday Night Football showdown on primetime television. Unfortunately, the Silver and Black fell to the Chiefs 21-13 and handed their division rival first place in the AFC West. After the loss, the team entered Week 15 ready to prepare for their next matchup with the San Diego Chargers.

The team is cognizant of the fact that it's one win away from qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 14 years, but are focused on taking things a week at a time. The division remains one of the team's goals and is set on trying to win out.

Dan Williams Discusses Nomination For 2016 Walter Payton Man Of The Year Award

Dan Williams always said he never did his community work for the accolades or notoriety, but now the Raiders defensive tackle will get some well-earned recognition as the team’s nominee for the 2016 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide.

Since joining the Silver and Black in 2015, the affable Tennessee-native has been a mainstay in the community, joining forces with the American Diabetes Association Team Tackle Campaign, in addition to his other work with the "Filling the Gap Foundation," and attendance at community events set up by the organization.

"It's definitely huge, a huge honor," said Williams Tuesday. "I'm very humbled to be selected. I've been learning more about the selection process, so there are a lot of people I guess that admire my work that I've been doing off the field, so I'm just glad to be involved in the community, and definitely happy to be recognized."

Each of the NFL's 32 teams is eligible to nominate a player for the annual award named after Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, and now in his seventh NFL season, Williams has been honored that his name can now be mentioned along what is a very distinguished list of nominees.

Key Matchups To Watch: Oakland Raiders vs. San Diego Chargers

The Oakland Raiders six-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium, as the Silver and Black fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 21-13.

Following a "mini-bye" as a result of the team's Thursday night matchup, Head Coach Jack Del Rio's squad will look to get back in the win column Sunday afternoon when they square off with another division, the San Diego Chargers.

Although they're currently living in the basement of the AFC West, the Chargers are always a threat on the offensive side of the football with Phillip Rivers at the helm, and games at Qualcomm Stadium have proved to be adventurous for the Silver and Black in recent years.

With the Raiders hitting the road once again this weekend, let's take a look at three matchups that will be critical in determining the end result of the Week 15 clash.

Raiders Undrafted Players Take Team Phrase "By Any Means" To Heart

"By any means" has become the mantra of the 2016 Oakland Raiders, and for the undrafted players on the team this phrase holds a special significance.

At one point or another, everybody has to pay their dues and earn their way in the world. Life isn't always easy, and it can be a grind, but it's the hope of achieving a goal that fuels individuals to excel. For certain players hopeful of making it to the NFL, going undrafted is just another obstacle put in the way of accomplishing that goal. For Raiders wide receiver Andre Holmes, who went undrafted in 2011, the chip on his shoulder has never left him, and it continues to spark his drive even now that he's in his fifth year in the league.

"I always feel like I have to play with some type of chip, or like it's my last year," Holmes said. "Now, I've established myself in the NFL, but now I have to fight the other thing that plagues players which is age."

Holmes, now 28, joined the Raiders practice squad during the 2013 season and worked his way up to the active roster, serving primarily as a member of the special teams unit. In his four seasons with the team, he's accumulated 1,395 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns.The Hillsdale-product credits much of his success to the opportunity he earned on special teams, noting that he wasn't willing to let this chance pass him by.

Notebook: Oakland Raiders Ready For Challenge Of Stopping Joey Bosa

At 5-8, sitting alone in last place in the ultra-competitive AFC West, the 2016 season hasn't gone as planned for the San Diego Chargers.

Granted, the team has been absolutely crippled by injury, from Keenan Allen, to Jason Verrett, Danny Woodhead, and now most-recently Melvin Gordon, but in for the Bolts, there have been some positives to take away from 2016, as Philip Rivers and Co. look poised to miss the playoffs for the third-consecutive season, mainly the play of rookie defensive end Joey Bosa.

After missing the first four games of the season because of some contractual disputes with the team, the former Ohio State Buckeye made his debut Week 5, against the Silver and Black; and what a debut it was.

While the Raiders won the game 34-31, Bosa no doubt made his imprint on the game, finishing his NFL debut with four tackles and two sacks, albeit it in a losing effort.

Pair Of Raiders Make Pro Football Focus' List Of 10 Best Free-Agent Signings

There's a wise man who lives by the mantra, "build through the draft, and supplement through free agency."

Throughout their rebuilding process, General Manager Reggie McKenzie has followed that recipe to a T, selecting the team's cornerstones in the draft, and then adding some complementary pieces to the roster in free agency.

McKenzie's 2016 free agent haul earned him accolades around the league this offseason, and so far, the moves he has made have paid off big for the Silver and Black, and are a large part of why the team is on the cusp of making their first postseason appearance since 2002.

Thursday morning, Pro Football Focus put out a list of the 10 Best-Free Agent Signings This Season, and there was a pair of Raiders who made the list – Guard/Tackle Kelechi Osemele at No. 2, and cornerback Sean Smith checking in at No. 7.
