Each week throughout camp, Raiders.com will be checking in with rookie running back Dylan Laube for a first person viewpoint of his first NFL training camp (as told to Levi Edwards).

The anticipation was high. It was my first time in pads for an NFL team.

My adrenaline was rushing, but at the same time, I was ready for it. After all of our installs, all of our preparation for the last couple of weeks, I was ready to go.

That first hit during live period really set the tone. On one of our gap scheme plays, I cut back into the hole. I made someone miss, I cut it up and then one of the safeties came down and popped me right in the shoulder.

He didn't hit stick me, but I felt a pop. I said to myself, 'Alright, this is truly a real NFL hit.' It definitely woke me up there. But after that, it was all fun.

Every time my group has been out on the field for two-minute drill, I think we've scored every time. My favorite play so far was during one of our live periods a few days ago. The situation was 4th-and-3. My read went inside so I bounced back outside, got about a 15-yard run in. That was one of my first big plays and it really gave me a lot of confidence. I think it also showed the coaches that I'm able to play at this level.

We had a live scrimmage last Saturday and it was everything that I would've expected it to be. It was full of contact, it was physical, it was fast paced. The defense came out fast and strong. I hate to say it, but the defense played really well.

The offense had a couple of great plays. I think we're getting our rhythm going. I think our QB battle is awesome to see, too. Gardner [Minshew] and Aidan [O'Connell] are both going back and forth, so it's just fun to watch them play.

I'm always my worst critic in a sense, so I always think I could do better. I had a couple of good plays here and there but at the same time, I'm young and always trying to learn, watch the film and critique myself. It was definitely a good learning experience for me though.

With that being said, I'm very excited for my first game against the Minnesota Vikings. Us going live a bunch in practice helps. Thuds and taps can only do so much, but when those live bullets fly, it's a whole different feeling that you have.

It's going to be a fun weekend in Minneapolis.

The Raiders kick off their first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.

The Las Vegas Raiders hit the field for a 2024 Training Camp practice.
