Brock Bowers passes Mike Ditka for most receiving yards by a rookie tight end in NFL history

In what has already been a historic rookie campaign for Brock Bowers, he's now broken an NFL record that stood for 63 years.

With a 13-yard catch in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Saints, Bowers surpassed Mike Ditka (1,076 in 1961) for most receiving yards in a single-season by a rookie tight end.

Bowers is just the third rookie tight end in NFL history with a 1,000-yard season, joining Ditka and Kyle Pitts.

The rookie added his name to another NFL record when, in the third quarter, he notched his 106th career reception, surpassing Puka Nacua (105) for most receptions by a rookie in a single season.

Later in the game, he added another accomplishment to his list – this time in the franchise annals. On another 13-yard catch, Bowers set the Raiders' single-season receptions record with his 108th career catch, surpassing Darren Waller (107 in 2020).
