Brock Bowers nominated for Week 1 Rookie of the Week

Raiders tight end Brock Bowers has been nominated for Week 1 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week following his NFL debut against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The No. 13 overall pick had a game-high six receptions for 58 receiving yards. His six catches broke the franchise record for most by a tight end in their NFL debut. Additionally, he tied for the second most receptions in NFL history by a tight end in their NFL debut, only trailing Keith McKeller (nine receptions on Oct. 18, 1987).

"I thought we saw just a glimpse of what it is and what he can be," Antonio Pierce said about Bowers. "What I really was excited about was him in the run game. I thought he had some really good examples of some blocks out there on their defensive ends. ... But it was good for him to get into the flow of the game, get his first couple catches, make some plays, move the chains for us, and again, just keep involving him into our game plan."

The other nominees for the Week 1 Rookie of the Week award are quarterback Jayden Daniels (Commanders), wide receiver Malik Nabers (Giants), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (Jaguars), wide receiver Xavier Worthy (Chiefs) and return specialist Jha'Quan Jackson (Titans).
