Los Raiders evaluaron a 1,497 prospectos, generando un total de 3,902 reportes sobre ellos para terminar eligiendo a 11 jugadores en el draft 2025 de la NFL y teniendo el plan de firmar a 15 agentes libres no drafteados en la primera temporada baja de la nueva directiva negro y plata encabezada John Spytek.
"Les estaría mintiendo si no les dijera que es el sueño de toda mi vida hecho realidad", dijo Spytek sobre su primer draft como gerente general en la NFL. "Hay 32 equipos que se sienten bien al respecto (de sus drafts), y estoy contento con cómo salió gracias al trabajo en equipo que tuvimos, a la gente que trabajó duro y sin ego en el grupo. Hicimos lo que fuera necesario para mejorar a los Raiders; de eso se trataba y siento que lo logramos".
Tras iniciar el draft con nueve selecciones, Las Vegas terminó con 11 picks después de haber realizado un par de intercambios durante la segunda ronda, con los cuales terminaron convirtiendo las selecciones 37 y 143 en cuatro picks adicionales (una de segunda ronda, dos de tercera ronda y una de cuarta ronda). Con ello se convirtió en la clase del draft más grande para los Malosos desde el 2007 cuando también eligieron a once jugadores.
"Los intercambios no fueron necesariamente planeados", aseguró Spytek sobre la mentalidad con la que entró el equipo al draft. "Pero al echar un vistazo atrás, me pareció que la estrategia con la que las abordamos y la forma en que las logramos fueron realmente sólidas".
Ahora viene la siguiente etapa en la construcción del equipo. Después de haber sido elegidos a lo largo y ancho de la liga un total de 257 jugadores en el draft, sigue habiendo una fuerte cantidad de prospectos disponibles para firmar como agentes libres
"Chicos que serán competitivos para entrar en nuestro equipo y en nuestro equipo de prácticas", declaró Brandon Yeargan, director de scouteo universitario de los Raiders sobre lo que buscan en los agentes libres no drafteados. "Tenemos un proceso muy bueno: nuestros scouts se encargan de cada posición, trabajan con nuestros entrenadores de posición, revisan la lista de jugadores que proyectamos como no seleccionados en el draft o seleccionados en rondas finales, y tenemos una visión para los jugadores que firmamos."
Con el minicampamento de novatos agendado para mediados de Mayo, esta será la primera oportunidad para estos jugadores de llenarle el ojo al staff de coacheo de Las Vegas y así buscar la manera de hacerse de un lugar en la NFL.
