Raiders-Chiefs Pick

By Nick Hennion, BETMGM

Based on odds from the BetMGM online sportsbook, I'm taking the Raiders Spread (+10) against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

Historically, the Raiders have always caused problems for the Chiefs. In fact, Las Vegas is the last team to hand the Chiefs an outright defeat.

While a lot has changed since that Week 16 meeting last season, there are still avenues for how Las Vegas can cause problems for Kansas City.

First is that Kansas City has struggled to defend tight ends this season and generally allow teams to move the ball.

Las Vegas' bright spot this season has been tight end Brock Bowers, who faces a Kansas City defense 20th in passing success rate.

Even if the Chiefs jump out to an early lead, Las Vegas has shown they can play the role of resilient dogs that cover late.

The Raiders are 2-0 ATS as underdogs of +7 or higher this season. Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes is 11-14-2 ATS as a favorite of -9.5 or higher in his career.

Additionally, I don't trust the Chiefs right now without multiple skill players. They're also a turnover-prone offense.

Although Las Vegas has turned opponents over only three times this season, I'll continue to back them as sizable underdogs.
