Heading into the Oakland Raiders preseason matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, we highlighted five players to keep an eye on. Following the Silver and Black's 30-23 loss to Bruce Arians and the Arizona Cardinals, let's take a look at how those five players fared.
Cornerback SaQwan Edwards
Edwards did not record a tackle or pass defensed in his limited work Sunday night.
The starting cornerbacks played deep into the second half, so Edwards and the rest of the reserves didn't enter the fray until midway through the fourth quarter.
Defensive End Shelby Harris
Similarly to Edwards, Harris' night did not begin until the second half of the game against the Cardinals.
In his time on the field he did record 1 total tackle and also took down quarterback Logan Thomas for a loss of four, but the sack was negated due to a facemask penalty.
Running Back Roy Helu, Jr.
Fans didn't have to wait long to see Helu, Jr. make his debut in Silver and Black, as he was on the coverage unit for the opening kickoff.
In addition to his work on special teams, Helu got into the mix offensively in the second half, hauling in a pass from Derek Carr for a gain of 10 yards.
Throughout the evening Helu showed his ability to run, as well as catch passes out of the backfield, ending the game with 4 rushes for 8 yards and 2 receptions for 14 yards.
Wide Receiver Seth Roberts
While Amari Cooper and Marcel Reece flashed their big-play potential Sunday night, Roberts quietly put together another quality outing at O.co Coliseum.
Roberts was targeted 4 times and hauled in 3 passes for 52 yards (17.3 avg.) during his time on the field, which began halfway through the second quarter.
Wide Receiver Devon Wylie
Wylie didn't see the field Sunday night, as TJ Carrie and Taiwan Jones handled the majority of the return duties.
As the game wore on, George Atkinson III and Trindon Holliday also received their shot at returning kicks, and each responded by averaging more than 20 yards per return.
In total, three kicks and three punts were returned Sunday night, but Wylie did not receive a chance to return any of them.
