Four Takeaways From Bill Musgrave's Thursday Press Conference

Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave held his weekly press conference Thursday afternoon at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility before the Oakland Raiders returned to the practice field to continue to prepare for Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Here are the highlights from his time behind the microphone.

Musgrave praised center Tony Bergstrom's play in relief against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Tony [Bergstrom] I believe played 16 plays last week. He came in of course with minimal preparation time, which happens during the week. Stepped in and did a fine job for us. We'll have to see how it goes this week. We have a couple spots where guys are going to have to step up and come through for us and we're counting on them."

He also shared his experience working with Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

"Just a tremendous talent like you said. Hard worker, very team-oriented person, Adrian [Peterson] is. It was a real blessing to have the opportunity to be associated with him."

Fullback Jamize Olawale is improving each week.

"He's getting better. Not that he was bad to beginning with, but he's getting better. The more turns he gets, the better run decisions he makes. I can see him growing into a bigger role there because he's very sudden and can make cuts going full speed."

Even with all the national attention, quarterback Derek Carr remains even keel.

"I think the guys at this level, I think they've been the focus of attention their whole lives athletically. So I think they know how to take the good with the bad and stay focused and on an even keel."
