Maxx Crosby has been named one of eight finalists for the 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, the NFL announced Thursday.
This is the third consecutive season in which the Raiders edge rusher has been nominated for the prestigious honor, with this also being his second straight season named a finalist. The award is presented annually to an NFL player who best embodies the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.
Before his season-ending ankle injury, the three-time Pro Bowler was leading the Raiders in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (17) quarterback hits (20) and quarterback pressures (35).
The recipient of the award will be determined by a vote of current NFL players. The winner will be announced during NFL Honors in February and will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.
Established in 2014 and named in honor of the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Art Rooney Sr., the award has been won by a Raider once – Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson in 2015.
