After the team's Saturday injury report revealed that Maxx Crosby had been ruled out for Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons, the defensive end took to social media to announce that he will miss the remainder of the season.
"As much as this pains me to write, I will not be playing the rest of the season," Crosby wrote in a post on both Instagram and X. "Second time this year getting rolled up on the same ankle and now it will require surgery. As much as it pains me to not go to war with my brothers and for the fans, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I have absolutely zero regrets with my process, my approach and my discipline to this game."
Crosby first injured his ankle in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, which led to the three-time Pro Bowler missing the first game of his career in Week 4.
Despite the hurdles, he leads the team in sacks (7.5) and is tied for the league-lead in tackles for loss (17). Crosby has led or co-led the league in tackles for loss in three straight seasons and this year, became the third-fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 career tackles for loss (joining J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald).
"I will get this surgery & be on a war path for greatness everyday and be back the best version of myself," Crosby wrote. "I truly believe in my soul that I'm changing the game one snap at a time and changing the way this position is viewed."
