Before he got his start in music, MC Hammer served his country for the U.S. Navy in the early in the early 1980s.
After his time in the military, he went on to become one of the biggest hip-hop recording artists of all time, with multiple hits and awards over his decades-long career. A product of Oakland, he's roamed the Raiders sideline for years, and dedicates much of his time giving back to the community.
In honor of Al Davis, Hammer was in attendance at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum to pay tribute by lighting the Memorial Torch.
