Early this week, the two newest additions to the Oakland Raiders were assigned jersey numbers, and one current player elected to make a number change.
Linebackers Curtis Grant and Jason Fanaika – who were both signed to the Raiders practice squad Monday – have now been assigned jersey numbers; Grant will wear No. 55, and Fanaika will wear No. 98.
In other number-related news, rookie running back Jalen Richard has changed his jersey number from No. 46 to No. 30.
The undrafted free agent wore No. 46 throughout rookie minicamp and the preseason, including the two preseason games he appeared in after coming back from injury.
However, after securing a spot on the Raiders 53-man roster, Richard elected to return to his college number he wore while at Southern Mississippi.
During his four years as a Golden Eagle, Richard appeared in 41 games with 29 starts, rushing for 2,082 yards on 397 carries, with 19 touchdowns.
