Postgame Notes: Week 2 at Baltimore Ravens

Team Highlights

  • The Raiders notched their first win against the Ravens in Baltimore since 2016 (28-27, 10/2/16).
  • The Raiders were down 23-13 with 12:17 left in the fourth quarter. The last time the Raiders won a game in which they trailed by 10+ points in the 4th quarter was 9/11/2016 at New Orleans (down 24-13, won 35-34).
  • The Raiders held the Ravens to 3-of-11 (27.3%) on third downs today. The Raiders are one of three teams in the NFL (Pittsburgh, Green Bay) to hold their opponent to under 30.0% on third downs in each of the first two games this season.
  • The Raiders committed only three penalties for 15 yards in the game. So far this season, the Raiders' five penalties are tied for the second fewest in the NFL and their 30 total penalty yards are tied for the second fewest in the league

Offense Notes

  • WR Davante Adams led the team with 110 receiving yards and one touchdown on nine catches (12.2 avg.), including a one-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter. Adams has now notched his 43rd career game of 100+ receiving yards, passing Cris Carter (42) and DeAndre Hopkins (42) and tying James Lofton (43), Tim Brown (43) and Reggie Wayne (43) for 17th most 100-yard games in NFL history.
  • Adams has now logged his 96th career receiving touchdown, tying Mike Evans (96) for 12th all-time in NFL history and the seventh most receiving touchdowns in NFL history among players in their first 11 seasons.
  • TE Brock Bowers is one of eight players in NFL history – the only tight end – to record 15+ receptions through his first two career games. His 156 receiving yards are also the most in NFL history for a rookie tight end in his first two career games.
  • Bowers' 15 receptions are the most by a Raiders rookie in their first two career games, passing Amari Cooper's 12 receptions in 2015.
  • RB Alexander Mattison is the first Raiders running back to score a touchdown (rushing or receiving) in each of the first two games of a season since Marshawn Lynch (first 3) in 2018.
  • QB Gardner Minshew completed 30-of-38 (78.9%) passes for 276 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a 94.7 passer rating. Minshew is now the only player in the NFL in 2024 to log a 90.0+ passer rating in each of the first two games of the season (min. 25 attempts).
  • Minshew's 78.9 pass completion percentage today is the third best mark in a single game in Raiders history among games with at least 35 pass attempts. He is only behind Rich Gannon's 89.5% (34-for-38) in Week 10 of 2002 and Carson Palmer's 80.0% (32-of-40) in Week 15 of 2011.

Defense Notes

  • CB Jakorian Bennett finished the game with two solo tackles and two passes defensed. Bennett now has six career passes defensed, making him one of eight cornerbacks in Raiders history (since 1999) to record 5+ passes defensed in his first 16 career games.
  • DE Maxx Crosby finished the game with six total tackles (five solo), 2.0 sacks, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and one pass defensed. He now owns 55.0 career sacks, passing Bill Pickel (53.0) for fourth on the Raiders all-time sacks list.
  • Crosby notched his 23rd career game with multiple tackles for loss, the second most such games in the NFL since 2019 - only behind T.J. Watt (25).
  • LB Robert Spillane led the defense with 10 total tackles (eight solo) and added one interception and two passes defensed. He recorded10 tackles for the second-straight game, joining Kirk Morrison (2) and Denzel Perryman (2) as the only three players in Raiders history (since 1987) to record 10+ tackles in each of the first two games of a single season.
  • Spillane's 20 total tackles in 2024 are tied for the seventh most in the NFL.

Special Teams Notes

  • K Daniel Carlson went 4-for-4 (100.0%) on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points for14 total points in the game, his most since Week 4 of the 2022 season.
  • Carlson has now made 174-of-198 (87.9%) field goals since entering the league in 2018. His 174 makes are the third most in the NFL and his 87.9 field goal percentage is the sixth best mark in the NFL over that span (min. 150 attempts).
