Postgame Notes: Week 5 at Denver Broncos

Team Highlights

  • The Raiders defense recorded three sacks for the second-consecutive game. Their two consecutive games with 3+ sacks is tied for the fourth longest active streak in the NFL. The Raiders have sacked the Broncos at least twice in 11 straight games dating back to 2019. That is the longest streak by the Raiders against any single opponent since 26 straight games against the Broncos from 1973 to 1986.
  • The Raiders defense held the Broncos to 3-for-25 (25.0%) on third downs in the game, this is the eighth straight game the Raiders have not allowed their opponent to convert 50.0+ percent of their 3rd-down attempts. Their eight-game streak is tied for the third longest active streak in the NFL.
  • The Raiders finished with 330 total yards of offense, including 215 passing yards and 115 rushing yards.
  • The Raiders' 115 rushing yards today marks the second straight game with 100+ rushing yards for the Silver and Black.
  • The Raiders converted on 1-of-2 (50.0%) red zone drives today. The Raiders have now converted on 8-of-12 (66.7%) red zone drives in 2024, their 66.7% red zone efficiency is tied for the seventh best mark in the NFL.

Offense Notes

  • RB Ameer Abdullah led the team with 42 rushing yards and one touchdown on five carries (8.4 avg.) and caught three passes for nine yards (3.0 avg). Abdullah notched his first rushing touchdown since 2017 as a member of the Detroit Lions.
  • TE Brock Bowers led the team with eight catches for 97 yards (12.1 avg.) and one touchdown - a 57-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, notching his first career touchdown. Bowers' 57-yard reception is currently the third longest catch by a tight end in the NFL in 2024. The 57-yard reception by Bowers is the longest reception by a Raiders first-year TE since John Madsen in Week 12, 2006 (57 yards at SD).
  • Bowers now has 28 receptions for 313 yards (11.2 avg.) and one touchdown. His 28 receptions and 313 receiving yards both lead all NFL tight ends. Bowers' 28 receptions through his first five career games are the second most in NFL history by a tight end in his first five career games - the most since 1988 (Keith Jackson, 29).

Defense Notes

  • DE Maxx Crosby finished the game with three solo tackles, 2.0 sacks, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits. Crosby notched his 13th career game with 2.0+ sacks, tying Howie Long (13) for the second most two-sack games in franchise history (since 1982). His 13 games with 2.0+ sacks are also tied for the second most in the NFL since 2019. Crosby has also notched his 24th game with multiple tackles for loss, the second most in the NFL since 2019 - only behind T.J. Watt (26)
  • Crosby now has 5.0 sacks in 2024, currently tied for the fifth most in the NFL. Crosby's 5.0 sacks this season are also the most by a Raiders player through his first four games of a season since Anthony Smith in 1997 (5.5 sacks).
  • LB Robert Spillane led the defense with 10 total tackles (six solo) and added two tackles for loss. Spilane is now one of six players in NFL history to record 10+ total tackles in each of the first five games of a single season, joining Ray Lewis (1999), Zach Thomas (2005), Luke Kuechly (2016, Denzel Perryman (2021) and Zaire Franklin (2023).

Special Teams Notes

  • K Daniel Carlson went 1-for-1 (100.0%) on field goals (40) and 1-for-1 (100.0%) on extra points in the game today. Carlson is now 177-for-202 (87.6%) since entering the league in 2018.
  • P AJ Cole punted five times for 267 yards (53.4 avg.). Cole also downed two punts inside the 20-yard line. Cole recorded three punts of 60+ yards in the game today. He is one of only three punters in the NFL in 2024 to have a game with 3+ punts of 60+ yards.
