With General Manager John Spytek and Head Coach Pete Carroll now on board, excitement is building for the Raiders' 2025 season.
The Raiders will play nine home games and eight road games next season. In addition to the regular AFC West opponents, the Silver and Black will take on teams from the AFC South and NFC East as well as the fourth-place teams in the AFC North, NFC North and AFC East.
Here are some notes to know about the Raiders' 2025 opponents.
Home Opponents
Excluding the yearly AFC West matchups, the Silver and Black will not host a team that had a winning record in 2024. In fact, the Raiders will play teams slated to pick first (Tennessee), second (Cleveland), third (N.Y. Giants), fifth (Jacksonville), 10th (Chicago) and 12th (Dallas) in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
All six clubs finished 25th or worse in scoring offense in 2024. Despite those struggles, offensive-minded head coach hires, improved quarterback health and draft position have the chance to transform these offenses and organizations by the time they take the field at Allegiant Stadium.
New Coaches
Chicago: After a 4-2 start, the Bears finished the season 5-12, moving on from Head Coach Matt Eberflus in the process. Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is now at the helm and will be tasked with maximizing the potential of 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams. Reportedly one of the more sought-after head coach candidates in recent years, Johnson helped the Lions finish in the top five in total offense in each of the past three seasons and will look to replicate that success in the Windy City.
Jacksonville: Entering Week 13 of the 2023 season, the Jaguars were 8-4 and in contention for the top seed in the AFC. Since then, they are just 5-18, tied for the fewest wins in the NFL in that span. Trevor Lawrence, who signed a five-year contract extension last offseason, missed seven games this year due to injury. Defensively, the Jags allowed the second-most yards per game in the league. Enter Liam Coen, formerly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator and now Jacksonville's new head coach. With a reshuffled staff, healthy Lawrence and the continued emergence of star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., the Jaguars have an opportunity to be right back in the mix in the AFC South next season.
Dallas: The Cowboys managed to finish the 2024 season with a 7-10 record despite Dak Prescott playing in only eight games. While Mike McCarthy won 49 games in his five seasons with the Cowboys, tied for the eighth most in the NFL in that span, that regular season success yielded just one playoff victory. Jerry Jones opted for a change and promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach. Schottenheimer was Pete Carroll's offensive coordinator in Seattle from 2018-20.
Questions at Quarterback
Cleveland: Poor quarterback play was the story of the Browns' 3-14 season. With Deshaun Watson's status for 2025 in flux following multiple reports of a setback in his Achilles injury recovery, the Browns could add to the quarterback room this offseason either in free agency or through the draft. The Raiders came away with a 20-16 victory over Cleveland in Week 4 and will get a chance for back-to-back wins at home against the Browns this upcoming season.
Tennessee: Former 2023 second-round pick Will Levis was benched late in the season and has thrown just 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 21 starts. Barring a trade back, the Titans have the first overall pick and their choice of any player on the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. The matchup against the Titans will mark a return for Head Coach Brian Callahan, who previously was the Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2018. He is also the son of current Titans offensive line coach and former Raiders head coach Bill Callahan.
New York Giants: Even following a 3-14 season, there are reasons for optimism in the Giants organization. Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Malik Nabers were both named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and with a top-three pick, all signs are pointing to the Giants drafting a quarterback. The Raiders are 6-2 all-time as the home team against the Giants and will look to improve that record in 2025.
Road Opponents
While the home slate is filled with teams in a state of transition, the road schedule for the Raiders is highlighted by six games against playoff teams, including three of the four teams who made the conference championships in 2024.
Playoff Contenders
Houston: The Texans have won a playoff game in each of C.J. Stroud's two seasons in the NFL. With talent up and down the roster, they'll likely enter the year as the favorite to win the AFC South. Questions remain though as Stroud and the offense will be operating under a new offensive coordinator in 2025. The Raiders have won two of their last three road games against the Texans and will travel to Houston for the first time since 2019.
Washington: Jayden Daniels' just finished one of the greatest seasons by a rookie quarterback in NFL history and looks primed to have the Commanders in playoff contention for years to come. Carroll will get a chance to coach against his former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, whom he spent time watching during his year away from coaching in 2024. Quinn worked with Carroll in Seattle as assistant head coach/defensive line coach from 2009-10 and defensive coordinator from 2013-14. The Raiders have a 7-7 all-time record against Washington and will be playing in just their second road game against the franchise since 2005.
Philadelphia: The Eagles are playing in their second Super Bowl in three seasons and have as talented of a starting-22 as any team in the league. The Raiders won their last meeting against Philadelphia in 2021 but will be looking for their first road win against the Eagles since 2001.
In the Hunt
New England: Many eyes will be on the Patriots in 2025 as former player Mike Vrabel takes on the challenge of building the organization back into a championship contender. For the Raiders, Carroll will have the opportunity to coach against the Patriots for the fifth time in his career. He is currently 4-1 all-time against New England, where he was the head coach from 1997-99 and went 27-21 with two playoff appearances.
Indianapolis: Despite inconsistent quarterback play from Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco, the Colts finished the season with an 8-9 record and had a chance at making a playoff appearance in the final quarter of the season. The Raiders will be looking to avenge a three-point road loss to the Colts in 2023. Each of the last three games between the two teams have been decided by five points or less.

AFC West Opponents
For Denver, despite a blowout loss to Buffalo in the playoffs, it's hard not to characterize year one of the Sean Payton-Bo Nix partnership as a success. The Broncos got back to the postseason for the first time since 2015 and Nix became the first rookie quarterback in franchise history to start a playoff game.
The Chargers reached the postseason in year one under Jim Harbaugh. Along with franchise quarterback Justin Herbert, the Chargers allowed the fewest points in the NFL and seemingly have two young building blocks for the future in wide receiver Ladd McConkey and offensive tackle Joe Alt.
Kansas City, meanwhile, is back in the Super Bowl for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Even with yearly roster turnover, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid continue to find ways to win and are now looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl Championships.
