Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave held his weekly press at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility Thursday afternoon.
Here are the highlights from his remarks.
Musgrave gave an update on quarterback Derek Carr.
"Better today than yesterday. Yesterday was still good, but today he appeared more confident with cutting it loose and those kind of things."
He also spoke about the team's desire to run the ball more.
"I think that would be one of the areas that we would want to get better at. A number of things in that game that we want to improve upon. More runs, more touches for everybody would be included in that."
Musgrave addressed why running back Roy Helu, Jr. was inactive Sunday against the Bengals.
"Well, it's always about numbers. You can only dress 46 guys. We as a team, we meet and make those decisions and go forward. We have a lot of players that we'd love to have dressed. There are a lot of guys also that we wish we didn't have to cut when we got down to 75 or 53."
