100 Days of 100 Jersey Numbers - 20

For a total of 100 days, we'll take a look at the men who have played for the Raiders jersey number by jersey number. This series will highlight some of the greatest players in NFL history. In some cases, the player and jersey number are synonymous. In other cases, the jersey number represents sustained greatness at a particular position. Some players are superstitious about their jersey number. Whatever the case may be, jersey numbers are an important part of the fabric of professional football.

**Jersey No. 20 has been worn by 18 players in team history. From shut-down corners to explosive running backs, it's one of the more instantly recognizable jersey numbers for the Raiders.

Charley Fuller – RB – 1961-62

Drafted by the Raiders in the 19th round of the 1961 AFL Draft, Fuller appeared in 17 games and carried the ball 38 times for 134 yards. He caught 12 passes for 277 yards and 2 TDs. He also returned 4 punts for 52 yards and 8 kickoffs for 155 yards.

Willie Simpson – RB – 1962

Simpson played one season for the Raiders; he appeared in 10 games and carried the ball 10 times for 32 yards and returned one kickoff for 7 yards.

Warren Powers – DB – 1963-68

The first player to truly showcase No. 20, Powers played in 63 games and intercepted 22 passes and accumulated 366 return yards. He returned 2 picks for touchdowns. His 22 INTs rank 10th all-time in team history.

Jimmy Warren – DB – 1970-74

Warren joined the Raiders in 1970 after 2 seasons with San Diego and 4 with Miami. He returned to the Raiders for 2 games in 1977 and wore No. 22. In all, he played in 57 games for the Raiders and picked off 7 passes and chalked up 198 return yards. He returned 2 of those INTs for scores.

Neal Colzie – DB – 1976-78

One of the top return men in the game in the 1970s, Colzie (pictured at left) was a member of the Raiders Super Bowl XI championship team. He played for the Raiders from 1975-78. He originally wore No. 45 in 1975. He played in a total of 56 regular season games and returned 168 punts for 1,747 yards. He also returned 7 kickoffs for 130 yards. He recorded 10 interceptions with 113 return yards. He spent a year with Miami and finished his career with 4 years with Tampa Bay.

I.M. Hipp – RB – 1980

Isiah Moses Walter Hipp appeared in 1 game for the 1980 Raiders and did not record any statistics. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 4th round of the 1980 NFL Draft.

Ted Watts – DB – 1981-84

Watts was a member of the Raiders Super Bowl XVIII championship squad. He was the Raiders 1st round pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. He played in 57 regular season games and recorded 4 interceptions. He returned 35 punts for 284 yards and a touchdown during his rookie season. He went on to play for the Giants and the Chargers.

Chetti Carr – DB – 1987

Carr played in two games for the Raiders in 1987 but did not record any statistics.

Willie Teal – DB – 1987

After seven seasons in Minnesota, Teal played in one game with the Raiders in 1987 and did not record any stats.

Chris McLemore – RB – 1987-88

McLemore was drafted by the Raiders in the 11th round of the 1987 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 games for the Raiders but did not record any statistics.

Dennis Price – DB – 1989

Price played for the Raiders from 1988-89 and wore No. 38 in 1988 and No. 20 in 1989. In all, Price played in 17 games for the Raiders and picked off 2 passes and logged 18 yards in returns. He went on to play 2 years for the Jets.

Derrick Hoskins – DB – 1992-95

Hoskins was a 5th round draft pick of the Raiders in 1992. He played in 60 games and recorded 3 interceptions for 60 yards.

Perry Carter – DB – 1996-98

After a season with the Chiefs, Carter played in 26 games in 3 seasons with the Raiders. He went on to play several seasons in the Canadian Football League.

Tory James – CB – 2000-02**

James was a member of the Raiders team that won 3 straight AFC West titles, appeared in 2 AFC Championship games and played in Super Bowl XXXVII. He played in 46 regular season games and picked off 11 passes and recorded 132 yards in returns. He is best remembered for his 90-yard interception return for a touchdown in the 2000 playoffs against the Miami Dolphins. He also played for Denver and Cincinnati.

Justin Fargas – RB – 2003-05

Fargas played for the Raiders from 2003-09. He switched from jersey No. 20 to 25 in 2006. In total, he played in 92 games with 32 starts and carried the ball 827 times for 3,369 yards and 10 TDs. He also caught 77 passes for 523 yards. Fargas was originally selected in the 3rd round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He is the 10th leading rusher in team history and recorded a 1,000-yard rushing season in 2007 (1,009 yards on 222 carries).

Adimchinobi Echemandu – RB – 2006

Echemandu played for the Raiders from 2006-07. He wore No. 20 in 2006 and 38 in 2007. He played in 6 games with the Raiders but did not record any statistics. He also spent time with Cleveland, Minnesota and Houston.

Darren McFadden – RB – 2008-present

McFadden was selected in the 1st round of the 2008 NFL Draft, 4th overall. He has played in 83 games and has carried the ball 1,038 times for 4,247 yards and 25 TDs. He has also caught 211 passes for 1,769 yards and 5 TDs. He is the 6th leading rusher in team history and his 175 receptions rank 12th.
