Cartwright Earns Commitment to Excellence Award

The 2011 Commitment to Excellence Award was presented for to Oakland Raiders RB Rock Cartwright before Sunday's game vs. the San Diego Chargers. This is the second year in a row that Cartwright has been selected for this award. Recipients of the award are chosen by their teammates and are selected based on their hard work, leadership, and excellence on and off the field throughout the season. Previous honorees include Jim Otto, Daryle Lamonica, Fred Biletnikoff, Willie Brown, Jerry Rice, and Tim Brown.

A 10-year veteran out of Kansas State, Cartwright was re-signed by the Raiders in February 2011. Cartwright's leadership, passion, and skill on special teams played an important role throughout the season. He was also active in the community, setting an example for his teammates.

Cartwright was one of the Raiders leading special teams tacklers and also had a few kickoff returns for 15 yards. He also carried the ball three times for 44 yards and caught four passes for 24 yards.

During his 10-year career, Cartwright has played 153 games and rushed 227 times for 955 yards and six touchdowns. He has also caught 64 passes for 589 yards and two touchdowns. He's tallied 96 tackles (75 solo) and returned 231 kicks for 5,450 yards.

On Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Hilton-Oakland Airport, the Steering Committee for the Booster Clubs of the Oakland Raiders will host the 10th Annual Commitment to Excellence Award Presentation Dinner, honoring this year's recipient, Rock Cartwright. The dinner will feature current and former Raiders players, Raiders executives, silent and live auctions, music and dancing.
