Chiefs Break Open Close Game, Defeat Raiders 31-13

The Raiders won the opening coin toss and elected to defer their choice to the second half. RB Knile Davis returned K Sebastian Janikowski's opening kickoff 29 yards to the Kansas City 21. The Chiefs opening drive was derailed by penalties and P Dustin Colquitt came on to punt. CB TJ Carrie misplayed the punt and was dropped at the Oakland 12.

The Raiders gained one first down before the Chiefs forced a punt. PR De'Anthony Thomas fielded P Marquette King's punt on a bounce and returned it 22 yards to the Chiefs 48. The Raiders allowed one first down by penalty before forcing a Colquitt punt. Carrie called for and made a fair catch at the Oakland 11.

The Raiders picked up one first down before penalties derailed the drive and King came on to punt. Thomas returned the punt down the left sideline 81 yards for a touchdown and the Chiefs took a 7-0 lead with 2:38 left in the 1st quarter.

Carrie's return of the ensuing kickoff was wiped out by a penalty and the Raiders started at the Oakland 17. The Raiders drove to midfield before having to punt. King's boot went out of bounds at the Kansas City 13.

The Chiefs drove into Raiders territory but the Silver and Black forced a field goal attempt. The 44-yard kick was no good and the Raiders took over at the 34. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Thomas returned the punt to the Kansas City 32.

The Chiefs drove into Raiders territory again and had to settle for a K Cairo Santos field goal attempt. The 41-yard kick was good and the Chiefs took a 10-0 lead with 8:01 left in the 2nd quarter.

Santos' ensuing kickoff flew out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Thomas returned the punt the Kansas City 40. The Chiefs drove to the Raiders 37 before failing to pick up 3rd and 3. Colquitt's punt went out of bounds at the Raiders 6.

The Raiders managed one first down before the Chiefs forced a punt. King's punt was downed at the Chiefs 35. K Sebastian Janikowski got the Raiders on the board with a 53-yard field goal as time expired at the end of the first half.

The Raiders and Chiefs traded punts to start the 3rd quarter. The Raiders got the ball back when safety Brandian Ross forced a fumble that DE C.J. Wilson recovered and returned to the Chiefs 15. However, the Raiders had to settle for a 33-yard Janikowski field goal that cut the Chiefs lead to 10-6 with 11:46 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Chiefs capitalized on Raiders penalties as Davis scored on a short TD run to cap an 80-yard drive. The PAT was good and the Chiefs led 17-6 with 6:46 left in the 3rd quarter.

Carrie returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 24. Carr fumbled the snap and Kansas City recovered at the Oakland 21. The Chiefs scored on a 19-yard pass play two plays later and took a 24-6 lead with 5:50 left in the 3rd.

Carrie returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 18. The Raiders managed one first down before the Chiefs forced a punt. The Chiefs started at the 30 after an Anthony punt return.

Three plays later, Smith hit Davis on a slant and Davis went 70 yards for the score and the Chiefs led 31-6 with 2:04 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Thomas returned the punt the Chiefs 48. The Chiefs went three and out and Colquitt came on to punt. Carrie called for and made a fair catch at the Oakland 7.

The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Kings punt was downed at the Oakland 40. The Raiders forced a punt and took over at the 10 after a Carrie fair catch.

The Raiders drove to the Chiefs 28 but failed to convert on 4th down and the Chiefs took over on downs with 6:47 to play.

Thomas returned the punt to the Oakland 32. The Chiefs settled for a 47-yard field goal that sailed wide left. The Raiders took over at the 37 with 2:19 left. Carr led a TD drive that he capped off with a 1-yard touchdown pass to WR James Jones. The PAT was good and the Chiefs led 31-13 with :34 left in the 4th quarter.

The Raiders fall to 2-12 on the season and return home to face the Buffalo Bills at O.co Coliseum in Oakland next Sunday.
