Head Coach Jack Del Rio and Chris Townsend
The Oakland Raiders are gearing up to begin the 2016 NFL regular season. With a lot of buzz surrounding the team, the Silver & Black Show is ready to cover all things Raiders in the upcoming season.
The show will feature TV and Radio personality Chris Townsend, who will interview Head Coach Jack Del Rio on a weekly basis during the 2016 campaign. Townsend works in a multitude of media outlets, from 95.7 The Game to hosting the Oakland A's pre- and post-game show and is an avid Raiders fan.
Townsend has followed Del Rio the majority of his football career, from Hayward High School star to his time in the NFL. After Del Rio was hired to the Raiders in 2015, Townsend had a chance to sit down with the recently-hired head coach.
"I did his first interview in the Bay Area here on 95.7 The Game, the flagship station of the Raiders," added Townsend. "I hope with this job I'll get to know him a lot more and learn a lot more about him and his philosophies on football."
Growing up, Del Rio was a Raiders fan and Townsend believes he has the mentality to make the Raiders a winning team. "Knowing that he grew up a Raider fan he knows what it's like," said Townsend. "He knows what it takes to be a Raider and a winner."
Going back to the days of Al Davis, the Raiders didn't care who they played, they wanted to win.
"Jack Del Rio understands that mentality and he's bringing that mentality back to the Oakland Raiders, which they need," added Townsend.
Going forward, tune in to the Silver and Black Show to watch Townsend converse with Del Rio about the team and how it's developing.
