Opening Statement:"OK, injury report. Tyvon Branch did not practice today, he's out for the game. Jason Hunter did not practice today, he'll be questionable for the game. Sio Moore was full participation, he's probable. Lucas Nix was limited today, he's questionable. Jamize Olawale was full today, he's probable. Tracy Porter was full today, he's probable. Terrelle Pryor was limited again in practice today, he's questionable. Menelik Watson did not practice today, he's out.
Q: Did Pryor do more today than yesterday?
Coach Allen: He did, yes. I liked the progress that I've seen out of him over the last few days. We're going to still continue to monitor him, but he's made some significant progress.
Q: So as you sit here now, you don't know who will start?
Coach Allen: Yeah, we haven't made that decision. The biggest thing is, I like where he's at. I like where he's at mentally. Medically, we're going to continue to evaluate him. He's cleared medically. We want to get one more evaluation on him tomorrow to see how he responded. But, he's making a lot of progress.
Q: Is he cleared to do everything, for full contact?
Coach Allen: Yes, he's been cleared. But, I think as a precautionary step after today's practice, he got a lot more in practice today, we'll take another look at him in the morning and see where he's at.
Q: Is he available on Sunday even if [Matt] Flynn starts?
Coach Allen: Yes.
Q: If he checks out medically, he would play Sunday?
Coach Allen: Yeah.
Q: Are you saying if he's cleared, will he start?
Coach Allen: We'll see.
Q: Is that a game-time decision?
Coach Allen: I don't know if that would be a game-time decision or not. The key is that both him and Matt Flynn have both prepared this week to start. I'm going to make the right decision based on his health and make sure we do the right thing for him.
Q: Will [Jason Hunter] be a game-time decision?
Coach Allen: It will be a game-time decision.
Q: If Hunter can't go…
Coach Allen: If he can't go, then Brian Sanford would start in his place in the base defense.
Q: Would Jack Crawford also play some defensive end?
Coach Allen: Yes.
Q: How has he been playing? He had a big game in preseason.
Coach Allen: I think, with him, there is still a lot of improvement that he needs to make. We feel like we feel good with some of the guys that we have. We feel good with Brian Sanford going in there. He's probably a little bit ahead of Jack. It would be a great opportunity for Jack, if Jason is not able to go, to get in and play and do some good things.
Q: What has Sanford brought?
Coach Allen: He's got versatility. He can play inside in the nickel. He's got a little bit of rush ability. But, he's also athletic enough that he can play some base defensive end for us. That's really the role that he's played on our defense.
Q: With the Pryor situation, you said there's one more test that you're going to do but it's not something you have to do?
Coach Allen: He's been cleared. It's not something that has to be done. It's something that we want to do. I want to make sure that we're making the right decision for this kid.
Q: Earlier in the week, you said you may not make a decision publicly for who might start. Is that also for competitive reasons?
Coach Allen: Yeah.
Q: In terms of Menelik's status…
Coach Allen: I'm hopeful that he's going to be able to practice next week.
