Opening Statement: "I'll just start off – I know everybody's probably wondering or whatever – but it's my decision and I've decided to go with Terrelle Pryor as our quarterback. He'll start the game. He'll play in the game and we'll see how the game goes."
On if the plan is for him to play the whole game: "Yeah, if he's playing well…he's the starter and we're going to go into it with him the starter just like we would any other game and the plan is for him to be the starter and then we'll see what the game dictates after that."
On what went into his decision to start Pryor: "Early in the week, we told both those guys that we were leaning in that direction. But I wanted to see how each player responded during practice this week. I thought Terrelle responded well. I think he gives us a unique element of athleticism at the quarterback position. I think he deserves to get an opportunity to get out there and see what he can do. I'm anxious to see him play. I want to see him go out there and relax and play the game of football the way it's supposed to be played. I want to see him take command of the huddle. I want to see us be able to get in and out of the huddle and the operation be smooth in running the offense. And then I want to see him protect the football and make sure he makes good decisions, protects the football, and hopefully he'll be able to do something with his skill set to give us a chance to move the ball down the field and score some points."
On if the decision was based on best chance to win or eye on the future: "I think there is a little bit of both involved in that. I think really we've been around Terrelle for a whole season and we know what his strengths are and we know what his weaknesses are. But really to give him an opportunity to go out in a game against a division opponent at their place and give him a chance to play and gives us a view into the future."
On Mike Brisiel: "Brisiel didn't practice again today. He's questionable I believe is how we listed him on the injury report for the game. He'll be more or less a game time decision with an ankle."
On if Brisiel could jump into the game without having practiced: "Yeah, and he's one of those guys that it's painful for him not to be out there practicing. He's not really able to do it like he needs to on that ankle."
On if Brandian Ross will start at cornerback: "Yes, we're going to place Phillip Adams on injured reserve."
On filling the empty roster spots: "We're going to activate Cory Nelms and Brandon Bair off our practice squad."
On if the two activated players could play Sunday: "Our thought is that Cory Nelms will be up."
On if Bair will be up in the game: "Probably not, and obviously anything can happen between now and game time, but that would not be our plan."
On the final week of practice: "Obviously, I think our guys came out and worked. They understand what this game means. I think they understand what this game is about. This game is about us playing for us moving forward. It's about pride. It's about defining who we are as individuals and as men and what we're about. Any time you get an opportunity to compete, that's what you're expected to go out there and do to the best of your ability."
On his first year as a head coach: "Obviously we still have one game left, so it's really not that time to reflect on that. We've obviously had many challenges that we've had to deal with both personally and professionally this year and I'm sure there will be a point after the season where I'll sit back and look at that and evaluate obviously things I did well and things I didn't do well."
On how QB Matt Leinart took the news of Pryor starting: "Like a competitor, he didn't like it, but I wouldn't expect anything different. But that's a decision that, at the end of the day, I had to make and felt like that was the right thing to do for this football game."
On the QB reps in practice: "He [Pryor] got more of the reps, yes."
On if the QB reps were more split in previous practices: "Yeah, it was relatively even earlier in the week. I think as the week has progressed he's gotten a little bit more."
On if Tyvon Branch's ankle is worse than before: "I wouldn't say its any worse. It's probably a little bit better right now than it was at this time last week. So that's an improvement because he played, I think, eight snaps in the game last week and so we'll see where he's at again on game day. It'll be the same situation it's been the last three weeks. We'll work him out before the game. If he's able to do the things we feel like he needs to do, he'll play in the game."
On CB Chimdi Chekwa in the last game: "I thought he did some good things, some good things in coverage and I'm anxious to be able to see him get back out there and play a little bit more."
On Nelms' position: "He's a corner and special teams player."
On Nelms: "He competes the right way. He's a tough, smart football player. He's done some good things. His role in the game will be special teams. We'll see how he does out there and then obviously depending on injury situations, that would dictate whether he plays on defense or not."
