Raiders vs Dallas Cowboys

The Oakland Raiders take to the road for the first time in 2012 with a trip to Arizona to face the Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm PT on Friday, August 17.

Series History: The Raiders travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals in Week 2. Oakland holds a 7-5 advantage in the all-time preseason series versus the Cardinals. The teams last met in the preseason last year in Oakland.

Coach and record**: The Cardinals, under head coach Ken Whisenhunt since 2007, finished last season with an 8-8 regular season record. In his five years as head coach, Wisenhunt has led the Cardinals to a 40-40 regular season record and two postseason appearances, including a berth in Super Bowl XLIII against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last five preseason match ups:

August 11, 2011: The Raiders hosted the Cardinals in the first preseason game of the 2011 season and fell by a score of 24-18. Rookies WR Denarius Moore and TE David Ausberry made an impact with three receptions for 37 yards for Moore and one catch for 18 yards and a touchdown from Ausberry.

August 23, 2008: The Raiders lost to the Cardinals 24-0 at home during the third preseason game. Rookie RB Darren McFadden had 12 carries for 40 yards.

August 11, 2007: The Raiders hosted the Cardinals for the first preseason game of 2007 and won 27-23. P Shane Lechler punted three times for 151 yards (50.3 avg.).

August 26, 2005: The Cardinals visited Oakland and beat the Raiders 17-16. K Sebastian Janikowski kicked three field goals and FB Zack Crockett (and current Raiders scout) rushed eight times for 29 yards and caught one pass for six yards.

August 28, 2004: The Raiders traveled to Arizona for the third preseason game in 2004, emerging with a 17-16 victory. QB Rich Gannon went 8 for 12 for 89 yards and WR Doug Gabriel caught four passes for 87 yards and a TD.

Story Lines

The Raiders face LB Quentin Groves who spent two years with the Silver and Black, starting 15 games and totaling 64 tackles, one safety, two passes defensed, one INT and two fumble recoveries. Thie will be the Raiders second appearance at University of Phoenix Stadium.
