The Oakland Raiders made another transaction Monday, signing linebacker and special teams standout Daren Bates.
Time to learn a little bit more about the newest member of the Silver and Black.
1. Oh Captain, My Captain
During his three seasons with the St. Louis Rams, Bates excelled on special teams.
In 2015, he finished third on the team with 10 special teams tackles and was also voted a special teams captain.
**2. War Eagle
**
Bates appeared in 49 games during his career at Auburn University, totaling 316 tackles and earning third-team All-SEC honors as a senior.
He was also teammates with Neiko Thorpe when the Tigers won the 2011 Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, besting the Oregon Ducks 22-19.
3. He Has Hops
The Memphis, Tenn., native is incredibly athletic.
In a 2014 matchup with the New York Giants, he jumped over the New York offensive line to block a field goal attempt.
You can check out the video, here.
4. Fútbol Master
In his down time, the former Auburn Tiger enjoys playing FIFA, and is a self-described "FIFA God."
I'm sure some of the other players on the team will have something to say about that proclamation before too long.
5. O.co Coliseum Made An Impression On Him
Bates and the then St. Louis Rams traveled to Oakland last season for a preseason game, and the energy that the crowd provided left an impression on the young linebacker.
"For a preseason game it was great," said Bates. "You don't have that in the NFL – that much passion at a football game, like you did in college. You get that here. I saw that when we played here in the preseason."
