In his 12th NFL season, punter Shane Lechler was selected for his seventh Pro Bowl. He punted 78 times for 3,960 yards (50.8 average) and set a Raiders franchise record with an 80-yard punt. He also placed 27 punts inside the 20.
Lechler's 80-yarder came against the Chicago Bears at home on November 27, 2010. He broke the team record of 77 yards, which he tied in Week 1 against the Broncos.
Lechler needs 177 punts and 153 gross punting yards to pass Ray Guy for #1 all-time in Raiders history in both categories.
The veteran punter threw his first career touchdown pass on a fake field goal during the match up with the Cleveland Browns. TE Kevin Boss caught the pass from Lechler and took it into the end zone for a 35-yard touchdown.
Lechler was selected by USA Football to the 2011 USA Football All-Fundamentals Team. USA Football selects 26 NFL Players – 11 offense, 11 defense, four special teams – who exhibit exemplary football techniques for youth players to emulate.
