The Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, next week.
The Silver and Black will take advantage of the annual event after bringing in a new head coach and general manager this offseason in Pete Carroll and John Spytek. As of now, they're heading into the draft with the No. 6 overall pick and another seven draft selections spread between Days 2 and 3. The new regime will look to build upon the talent acquired in last year's draft which included All-Pro Brock Bowers and starting offensive linemen Jackson Powers-Johnson and DJ Glaze.
But before the draft talk heats up, here's a look at three prospects I believe could set themselves apart at the Combine.
Tetairoa McMillan, Wide Receiver, Arizona
McMillan legitimately has an opportunity to steal the show in Indianapolis.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 212 pounds, he has all the athleticism in the world to showcase in drills what type of receiver he can be. He notably accounted for 506 receiving yards on 20 catches with five touchdowns in his Week 1 and Week 9 games in 2024.
He seems to flow naturally on his routes, with his long legs giving him the ability to make great strides on deep balls. Another thing that stands out is his ability to create yards after catch, accounting for 5.1 YAC per reception in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus.
"Possession receiver with the size and ball skills to create big wins deep," Lance Zierlein, NFL.com analyst, wrote. "He's a linear route-runner who wears press coverage early and coasts too often on deep routes, but he has a feel for uncovering underneath and can play over the top of cornerbacks for easier jump-ball wins. McMillan is instinctive with a feel for adjusting his routes and working back on throws to make the quarterback's job easier."
Several mock drafts have McMillan going as high as No. 3 to the New England Patriots, however he'd be an intriguing prospect to watch for at No. 6. McMillan pairing up with Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers would make for a fun, promising receiving corps. I'll be most excited to see him perform in the Vertical and Broad Jump.
Jalen Milroe, Quarterback, Alabama
Like McMillan, Milroe is another freak athlete that could impress in the Combine.
He's a gifted runner, accounting for 32 rushing touchdowns in his two seasons as Alabama's full-time starter. While accuracy was an concern at times with 11 interceptions during his senior season, his arm strength has allowed him to connect on his fair share of deep balls throughout his career.
The throwing session is where Milroe could realistically raise his draft stock with a good showing. With questions still in the air regarding the quarterback position for the Raiders, they'll likely be checking out the dual-threat quarterback throughout the week.
"Milroe is an explosive athlete who is very capable outside the pocket, but he lacks accuracy, touch and decision-making when he's inside the pocket," Zierlein wrote in his analysis. "A lack of anticipation and timing leads to interceptions and contested throws to intermediate areas of the field. He has an NFL arm, but he might need to fine-tune his footwork and delivery to improve accuracy on all three levels. He can get through his reads when he's confident and feels protected but becomes predictable and easier for defenses to manipulate when he's rattled. He's built like a Will linebacker, runs like a receiver and is a threat to hit the home run on called runs and scrambles."
Mykel Williams, Edge Rusher, Georgia
While many will be tuning in to see how Abdul Carter fares at the Combine, Georgia's Mykel Williams is arguably the most athletically gifted edge rusher in the 2025 draft class.
As a true freshman, he led the Bulldogs in sacks (4.5) en route to their second consecutive national championship. He reached career highs in sacks (5.0) and tackles for loss (8.5) in 2024 despite missing two games. Williams has the chance to have one of the best Combine showings and leapfrog his draft stock in a way that fellow Georgia edge rusher Travon Walker did three years ago.
"He is an explosive athlete who uses his exceptional length to keep tackles and tight ends at the end of his punch," Zierlein wrote. "He plays a little too tall at the point and needs to get stronger to shed blocks more quickly, but he plays with good physicality in the trenches and is never pushed around. He's still learning moves and counters but already has a big bull rush, good secondary effort and the closing burst to become a sack blanket in the pocket."
Abdul Carter, universally deemed the top edge rusher in the draft by pundits, will more than likely being off the board by the time the Raiders are on the clock. However, if the team wants to continue fortifying their pass rush next to Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins, Williams would be a good prospect to keep an eye on.
