ALAMEDA- The Oakland Raiders have signed free agents S Taylor Mays and DL C.J. Wilson, the club announced Tuesday.
Mays, now in his sixth NFL season, rejoins the Raiders after a brief stint with the team during the 2015 preseason. He spent parts of this past offseason with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions after beginning his career with the San Francisco 49ers (2010) and Cincinnati Bengals (2011-14). The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder has totaled 72 tackles (51 solo), four passes defensed, one sack, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 66 career games.
Wilson, 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, also rejoins the Raiders in his sixth NFL season after spending last year with the team. Wilson played in all 16 games for Oakland in 2014, starting seven, before he was released at the end of the 2015 preseason. Wilson, who spent his first four seasons (2010-13) with the Green Bay Packers, has totaled 66 games played, with 18 starts, 137 tackles (76 solo), 5.5 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery in his regular season career, with 24 tackles (14 solo) and one sack in eight postseason games.
To make room on the roster, the Raiders have waived TE Gabe Holmes and placed S Nate Allen on the Reserve/Injured – Designated for Return list.
