The Oakland Raiders have claimed LB Chase Thomas via waivers, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 241-pound Thomas originally signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in April and was waived by the team on Monday.
Thomas appeared in 52 games over four seasons at Stanford, making 47 starts. He recorded 229 tackles, 27.5 sacks, 50.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
During his senior campaign, the Marietta, Ga., native finished second on the team with 71 tackles, tied for second with 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He was an All-Pac 12 first-team choice for the second-consecutive season.
To create space on the roster, the Raiders waived/injured T John Wetzel.
