Raiders culminan Draft 2024 con Laube, Taylor y Devonshire

Los Raiders no realizaron ningún intercambio con sus selecciones del Draft 2024 de la NFL, eligiendo en total tanto a 4 jugadores ofensivos como defensivos con los picks con los que comenzaron este evento.

En la sexta ronda sumaron a sus filas con la selección 208 al corredor Dylan Laube, quien estuvo seis años en la Universidad de New Hampshire. Destacó de gran manera en el 2022 y 2023, donde encabezó a todos los jugadores del nivel FCS en yardaje total.

Es habilidoso tanto por tierra, por aire y en equipos especiales, consiguiendo anotaciones en regresos de patada de salida y de despeje en los últimos dos años. Tuvo su mejor actuación con 295 yardas totales ante Central Michigan en el único partido que disputó contra un rival del FBS (división 1) durante su última campaña colegial.

Las Vegas volvió al lado defensivo del emparrillado en la séptima ronda con dos elementos de la secundaria en Trey Taylor con la selección 223 y MJ Devonshire con el pick 229.

Taylor disputó su actividad universitaria con Air Force, siendo elegido al equipo ideal nacional (All-American) y ganando el trofeo Jim Thorpe al mejor jugador de la defensa secundaria en el 2023, donde acumuló 3 intercepciones, 7 pases defendidos y 5 tacleadas para pérdida de yardaje.

Jugando en la posición de safety, Trey tuvo un mentor en su primo Ed Reed, miembro del Salón de la Fama del Futbol Americano tanto en el nivel profesional como en el colegial.

Devonshire estuvo con la Universidad de Kentucky en el 2019 y 2020, donde su tiempo de juego fue limitado, tomando la decisión de transferirse a la Universidad de Pittsburgh para sus últimos tres años colegiales, siendo el líder en intercepciones del equipo en el 2022 (3) y 2023 (4), regresando tres a la zona de anotación.

Al igual que Laube, Devonshire demostró tener la habilidad de hacer jugadas en equipos especiales. MJ regresó al menos 20 patadas de despeje en sus últimos dos años con las Panteras, incluyendo una de ellas para anotación en el 2022.

El Draft 2024 de la NFL llegó a su final, pero aún habrá más novatos en sumarse a las filas de los Raiders como agentes libres no drafteados, así que la directiva y el staff de coacheo de los Malosos seguirá trabajando duro para obtener más jugadores en las próximas horas y días.
