ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have released FB Marcel Reece, the club announced Monday.

"I want to thank Marcel as a player and as a person for all that he has given to the Oakland Raiders," said General Manager Reggie McKenzie. "What he has meant to the organization and to me over the past few years is hard to put into words, but his actions, both on and off the field, speak louder than any words can. This was a tough decision. Not enough can be said about Marcel's commitment to his teammates and his pride in the Raiders, and we wish him and his family nothing but the best."

"Marcel was a great teammate and I appreciate him as a player on the field and as a man off the field," said Head Coach Jack Del Rio. "I wish him all the best moving forward."

Reece, a former team captain and four-time Pro Bowl selection, was in his ninth season with the team in 2016. His career totals include 205 receptions for 2,015 yards with 12 touchdowns, while also amassing 844 rushing yards on 183 carries with three touchdowns. He played in 92 games with 67 starts, also seeing extensive action on special teams and at running back during his time with the Silver and Black.

A Pro Bowl selection at fullback in each of the past four seasons, Reece was also named second-team All Pro by the Associated Press in 2013. Reece joined the Raiders as a free agent in 2008 out of the University of Washington, where he played wide receiver. He spent the majority of the 2008 and 2009 seasons on the team's practice squad before cracking the starting lineup in 2010.
