ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent S Larry Asanteto the active roster andLB Bojay Filimoeatuto the practice squad, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Wednesday.
Asante re-joins the Raiders after spending time with the team in this year's training camp before being waived at the end of camp. Asante has spent parts of four previous seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. For his career, the 6-foot, 210-pounder has played in 17 games and totaled 12 tackles (nine solo), one interception, one pass defensed and one forced fumble. He played in five games last season for the Colts, seeing time primarily on special teams. Filimoeatu originally signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent in May, and was signed from the practice squad on Sept. 20. He has appeared in five games in 2014, making 10 tackles for the Raiders. He started all 26 games during his two-year collegiate career (2011-12) at Utah State and registered 112 tackles (48 solo), eight sacks, one interception, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. His senior season, he posted 71 tackles and five sacks. The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder spent the 2013 campaign recovering from a knee injury sustained in January 2013.
