ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed S Ras-I Dowling andLB Bojay Filimoeatu to their active roster from the team's practice squad, and placed S Larry Asante on the reserve/injured list, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Saturday.
Dowling was signed to the Raiders' practice squad on Sept. 1, 2014. Originally a second-round selection (33rd overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2011 NFL Draft, he spent his first two seasons with New England before joining the New York Jets for the 2013 campaign, where he was through training camp of 2014. For his career, Dowling has appeared in nine games, totaling 10 tackles (seven solo) and one pass defensed.
Filimoeatu originally signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent in May, and has spent time on the team's active roster and practice squad this year. He has appeared in five games for the Raiders, totaling 10 tackles (two solo). Filimoeatu started all 26 games during his two-year collegiate career (2011-12) at Utah State and registered 112 tackles (48 solo), eight sacks, one interception, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Asante, who was with the Raiders in training camp and then re-signed in October, appeared in six games (two starts) for the Silver and Black, posting 23 tackles (18 solo) and one forced fumble.
