The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent S Jeremy Deering, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Monday. The signing brings the Raiders' roster to its full 90-player capacity.
Deering was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in May 2014 before being waived later in the month. In four seasons at Rutgers, he played in 48 games, seeing action at running back, wide receiver, kick returner and safety. He finished his collegiate career with 130 rushes for 578 yards and two touchdowns, 21 receptions for 415 yards and one touchdown, 41 kickoff returns for 1,100 yards and one touchdown and 45 tackles (28 solo), one interception and one pass defensed.
The 6-foot-1, 209-pounder joined the defensive side of the ball for his senior campaign in 2013, transitioning to safety and registering 39 tackles (22 solo) and one interception.
Deering prepped at Leto High School in his hometown of Tampa, Fla.
