Like many of the Raiders' series with NFC teams, the Silver and Black and the San Francisco 49ers have not played many times in the regular season, an even dozen to be exact. The regular season series is tied 6-6. However, these natural geographic rivals have played 39 times in the preseason, with the 49ers holding a slim 20-19 edge in that series.

1970s

After the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, the Raiders and 49ers met for the first time in the regular season and the 49ers claimed a 38-7 victory. The Raiders won the next two 1907s meetings – 35-24 in San Francisco in 1974 and 23-10 in Oakland in 1979.

1980s

With the Raiders now calling Los Angeles home, the Raiders won their third straight in the series with a 23-17 decision at Candlestick Park in 1982. The 49ers claimed a decisive 34-10 victory in Los Angeles in 1985. The Raiders then won a 9-3 field goal battle in 1988 in San Francisco.

1990s**

The teams only met twice in the '90s splitting the games. The Raiders defeated the 49ers 12-6 in Los Angeles in 1991 and the 49ers won a 44-14 blowout at Candlestick in 1994.

2000s

A QB Rich Gannon to WR Tim Brown TD pass in overtime gave the Silver and Black a 34-28 win at Candlestick in 2000. The 49ers grabbed their own overtime victory, 23-20, in 2002 in Oakland. The 49ers have also won the last two meetings, both at Candlestick, 34-20 in 2006, and 17-9 in 2010.

The Battle of the Bay, 2014 Regular Season edition, is set for this Sunday at O.co Coliseum in Oakland. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. PT on KTVU FOX 2. You can also listen on 95.7 The Game and follow along right here on Raiders.com.
