The Raiders defeated the Kansas City Chiefs at O.co Coliseum Sunday, 15-0.
The victory marked the first shutout by the Silver and Black since a 24-0 win over the Chiefs on Dec. 28, 2002, in Oakland.
Against the league's No. 5 rushing offense, Oakland limited the Chiefs to just 10 yards on the ground, tying a franchise record for fewest yards rushing by an opponent. The mark was set on Dec. 10, 2000, vs. the New York Jets.
In two games this year, the Raiders limited Jamaal Charles – the league's No. 5 rusher entering the week, coming off three straight 100-yard games, to 14 yards on 14 carries. He had nine carries for 9 yards today. Charles (748 carries, 4,257 yards, 5.7 avg.) needs two more carries to officially qualify and rank as the No. 1 rusher of all-time in terms of average per carry.
Oakland's 40:06 time of possession was its fourth-highest total of all-time, and most since a 40:15 mark, Dec. 28, 2002, vs. KC.
The Raiders allowed just 119 total yards, the lowest amount surrendered by the Silver and Black since a 6-0 victory on Oct. 6, 1975, at San Diego.
Oakland set a season high with 203 net rushing yards, marking the most since rushing for 234 yards on Sept. 25, 2011, vs. the New York Jets.
Oakland finished 3-5 at home this season. They also finished 3-5 at home last year.
The Raiders are 4-0 this season when scoring in each quarter.
On Nov. 18, for this first time this season, the Raiders played a full game with the five offensive linemen they'd projected to start at the end of training camp. In five games since, the raiders have averaged 4.5 yards per carry (568 yards on 127 carries), 13th in the NFL during that span.
The Raider defense recorded a season-high four sacks, with DT Desmond Bryant, DE Andre Carter, DT Tommy Kelly and LB Philip Wheeler each getting to QB Brady Quinn.
Oakland's offensive line did not allow a sack, marking the third time this season that the line has not allowed a sack. The Raiders are 2-1 in contests in which they do not allow a sack this season.
The Raiders held a 9-0 lead at halftime, marking the first time that Oakland has shut out an opponent in the first half since Oct. 31, 2010, vs. Seattle.
The Raiders held the Chiefs without a first down in the first half, the first time an NFL team has done so since Jacksonville held Baltimore without a first-half first down on Oct. 24, 2011.
Oakland's defense limited the Chiefs to minus-2 yards rushing in the first half, the fewest by an NFL team since St. Louis held Carolina to minus-5 yards on the ground on Oct. 31, 2010.
The minus-2 yards rushing in the first half were the least by a Raider opponent since the Silver and Black held New Orleans to minus-5 yards on the ground on Nov. 20, 1995.
The Raiders turned a second-quarter interception by CB Joselio Hanson into a field goal, marking the 12th time this season that the Silver and Black has scored points following a takeaway.
The Raiders' field goal as time expired in the first half marked the 11th time this season that Oakland has scored within the final two minutes of the first half. The Raiders scored within the final two minutes of the first half in nine straight games before having the streak snapped on Nov. 18, vs. New Orleans.
The Raiders have scored an NFL-leading 82 points at the end of the half this season.
Four players – Matt Giordano, Joselio Hanson, Michael Huff and Phillip Adams (each with two – now have multiple interceptions, most by a Raiders team since 2008, when DeAngelo Hall (3), Chris Johnson (3), Rashad Baker (3) and Gibril Wilson (2) did it in 2008.
FB/RB Jamize Olawale made his NFL debut, becoming the 12th Raider to make his first NFL appearance this season. Olawale joined OL Tony Bergstrom, DT Christo Bilukidi, LB Kaelin Burnett, LB Miles Burris, DE Jack Crawford, WR Juron Criner, LB Carl Ihenacho, C/G Alex Parsons, RB Jeremy Stewart, WR Rod Streater and CB Brandian Ross as Raiders that have seen action in their first NFL game this season.
Individual Notes
QB Carson Palmer completed 18-of-29 passing attempts for 182 yards, moving into second place on the Raiders' single-season list in both attempts (562) and yards (3,987) on the season.
RB Darren McFadden posted his third 100-yard rushing game of the season, totaling 110 yards on 30 carries. McFadden's last 100-yard rushing contest, a 114-yard performance, came at Kansas City on Oct. 28.
The game marked McFadden's 12th-career 100-yard rushing contest. The Raiders are 10-2 in games in which McFadden tops the 100-yard mark.
With 30 rushing attempts, McFadden tied a career high, set on Sept. 19, 2010, vs. St. Louis.
K Sebastian Janikowski went 4-for-5 on field-goal attempts, including two field goals of 50-or-more yards.
Janikowski fell one field goal short of his single-game career high of six, set on Nov. 27, 2011, vs. Chicago.
Janikowski tied a career high with six field-goal attempts, matching his total set on Nov. 27, 2011, vs. Chicago.
Janikowski moved into a tie for second place on the NFL's all-time list in field goals of 50-or-more yards, increasing his career total to 42. He is now tied with John Kasay for second place all-time.
Janikowski's 57-yard field goal at the end of the first half marked a season long and his longest since booting a 59-yarder on Dec. 26, 2010, vs. Indianapolis.
It marked the first time that Janikowski has kicked multiple field goals of 50-or-more yards since he kicked three on Oct. 9, 2011, at Houston.
Janikowski missed a 51-yard field-goal attempt, marking just his third miss of the season. His misses have come from 61, 64 and 51 yards.
RB Mike Goodson totaled 89 rushing yards on 13 carries, marking a season high. Goodson tied a season high with a 43-yard run in the third quarter, helping set up a Raiders field goal.
TE Brandon Myers had two receptions, recording a catch for the 15th straight game, a stretch that dates back to the 2011 season finale.
Myers' team-leading 72 catches are the most by a Raider tight end since Todd Christensen's 95 receptions in 1986, and the most by a Raider since WR Jerry Porter hauled in 76 passes in 2005.
P Shane Lechler's first punt of the contest marked his 1,000th career punt. Lechler finished the game with 1,003 career punts, which ranks first among active NFL punters.
DT Tommy Kelly posted his first sack of the season, getting to QB Brady Quinn in the fourth quarter.
Kelly moved into seventh place on the Raiders' career list with 34 sacks, passing Rod Martin (1977-88).
Of Kelly's career-high 7½ sacks last season, 5 ½ sacks came in the fourth quarter and helped lead the Raiders to a 5-1 record in those contests. His sack today also came in the fourth quarter.
WR Rod Streater hauled in five passes for 62 yards, increasing his season catches total to 33. Streater's receptions mark is the second-highest posted by a Raider rookie wide receiver over the past decade, trailing only Louis Murphy's 34 catches in 2009.
CB Joselio Hanson picked off a second-quarter pass, marking his second pick of the season and helping set up a Raider field goal. His two interceptions match his 2009 career high.
Hanson moved into a tie for the team lead in interceptions with CB Phillip Adams, Michael Huff and S Matt Giordano.
LB Philip Wheeler recorded his third sack of the season, in the first quarter. In four previous NFL seasons (23 starts entering the year), his career high was one.
During a Chiefs first-quarter possession, Wheeler notched his sack on first down and tackles on both second and third down, forcing a Kansas City punt.
DE Andre Carter notched his second sack of the season, and first since Nov. 4, vs. Tampa Bay. Carter ranks eighth among active NFL players with 78 career sacks.
DT Desmond Bryant recorded a sack for the second straight game. Bryant now has 9 ½ career sacks.
WR Denarius Moore tied a season high with five receptions, for 46 yards.
QB Terrelle Pryor saw his first action of the season, taking the reins of the offense for a second-quarter series.
Pryor's appearance was his first since making his NFL debut on Oct. 23, 2011, vs. Kansas City. In that game, Pryor saw action on one snap and was flagged for a false start.
LS Jon Condo was presented with the annual Commitment to Excellence Award in a pregame ceremony.
Inactive for the game were WR Derek Hagan, RB Jeremy Stewart, LB Rolando McClain, OL Lucas Nix, T Willie Smith, DE Jack Crawford and DT Richard Seymour.
