The Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys will face each other twice in 2013, once in the preseason and again in the regular season on Thanksgiving. We begin our decade-by-decade look at the Raiders history with their 2013 opponents with the Cowboys.
The Raiders and Cowboys will meet for the 29th time in the preseason, with the Silver and Black holding an 18-10 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last played a preseason contest in Oakland in 2012 after a one-year hiatus, with the Cowboys coming away with a 3-0 win.
The Raiders first faced the Dallas Cowboys in the regular season in 1974 and hold a 6-4 regular season record against the five-time Super Bowl champions. The Cowboys have won three Super Bowls since Jerry Jones took over as owner and general manager in 1989. The Raiders won three Super Bowls from 1976-1983, and have appeared in five.
The 2013 Thanksgiving Day match-up will be the first regular season meeting in four years. The last was also played in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day (2009). Oakland will travel to Dallas' new Cowboys Stadium for the third time overall (second regular season trip) since it opened in 2009. The Raiders are 0-1 in the new Cowboys Stadium in the regular season.*

1970s and 80s
Preseason: The teams first met in 1972 with the Cowboys winning 16-10. The Raiders won four straight in the series from 1973-1976. After a two-year break, the Raiders won in 1979. The two teams didn't meet again until 1986, with the Raiders winning that game and a 1987 meeting. Dallas snapped the preseason losing streak with a win in 1988 and won again in 1989.
Regular Season: The Silver and Black were successful against the Cowboys in the 70s and 80s, boasting a 1-0 record in the 70s (only game played in 1974) and 2-1 in the 80s with both wins coming at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas. The Raiders won three Super Bowls between 1976-1983.
1990s
Preseason: The Raiders began the decade with a 4-1 preseason record including a win over Dallas. The Silver and Black also topped the Cowboys in 1991. After skipping 1992, the Cowboys snapped that streak with a 1993 preseason win. The Raiders won the next two (1994-95), lost in 1996, and then won the next three (1997-99).
Regular Season: The Cowboys won three of their five Super Bowls during the 90s and won the first two of three games against the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders. In 1998, the Raiders snapped that two-game losing streak with a 13-12 win at Texas Stadium.
2000-10s
Preseason: The Raiders won the first two preseason match-ups of the decade extending their winning streak to five before Dallas snapped the streak in 2002. The Cowboys won three in a row (2002-04) before a four-season break. The teams have split the last four preseason meetings (2009-12).
Regular Season: In the three meetings during the 2000s, the home team won. The first two were in Oakland in 2001 and 2005, and marked a three-game winning streak for the Raiders. The Cowboys ended the Raiders' streak on Thanksgiving Day in 2009 with a win in the only regular season meeting between the two teams in Dallas during the decade.
