RECAP: Buccaneers 42 Raiders 32

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Oakland Raiders 42-32 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland. QB Carson Palmer threw for 414 yards and 4 touchdowns, however, the Raiders allowed RB Doug Martin to rush for 251 yards and 4 scores. RBs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson left the game due to injury for the Raiders.

The Buccaneers won the opening coin toss and deferred their choice to the second half. The Raiders elected to receive. RB Mike Goodson returned the opening kickoff to the 17. The Raiders went three-and-out and Tampa Bay took over at their own 27 after a P Shane Lechler punt and a fair catch.

The Raiders allowed one first down before forcing a punt thanks to a DE Andre Carter strip-sack on 3rd and 6. The Bucs recovered and punted the ball back to the Raiders. CB Phillip Adams was dropped at the Raiders 16, losing 2 on the return.

The Raiders went three-and-out. Tampa Bay took over at the 9 after a short return by WR Roscoe Parrish and an illegal block in the back penalty. The Buccaneers drive stalled at the Oakland 17. K Connor Barth's 35-yard field goal attempt was blocked by DE Lamarr Houston who recovered it and returned it to the Tampa 44.

The Raiders 10-play, 33-yard drive stalled at the Tampa 11. K Sebastian Jankikowski's 29-yard field goal gave the Silver and Black a 3-0 lead with 45 seconds left in the 1st quarter.

WR Arrelious Benn fielded the bouncing kickoff in the end zone and took a knee for a touchback and Tampa started at the 20. QB Josh Freeman capped an 80-yard drive with a 20-yard TD pass to WR Vincent Jackson. The extra point was good and Tampa Bay took a 7-3 lead with 12:54 left in the 2nd quarter.

P Michael Koenen's ensuing kickoff sailed out of the back of the end zone and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders drive stalled near midfield as QB Carson Palmer was sacked on 3rd and long. The Bucs were called for roughing the punter giving the Raiders an automatic first down. The Raiders were unable to take advantage and were forced to punt. The Raiders tried a fake punt as Lechler completed a pass to RB Taiwan Jones who was stopped short of a first down. Tampa Bay took over at the Buccaneers 46.

The Bucs were forced to punt after picking up one first down. Koenen's punt was downed at the Raiders 5. After picking up one first down, the Raiders were forced to punt. Parrish returned Lechler's 54-yard punt 20 yards to the Tampa Bay 46.

The Raiders relentless defense forced a 3-and-out and Koenen came on to punt to Adams. The punt went out of bounds at the Oakland 29. Palmer capped the 71-yard drive with a 25-yard touchdown strike to rookie WR Rod Streater. The extra point was good and the Raiders took a 10-7 lead with 1:20 left in the 2nd quarter.

Benn returned the ensuing kickoff to the Tampa Bay 21. The bucs got into position for a 54-yard field goal attempt, which was no good. The Raiders took a 10-7 lead into the locker room at half time.

Tampa got the ball to start the 3rd quarter and marched down the field. RB Doug Martin's 45-yard scamper and the subsequent PAT gave the visitors a 14-10 lead with 12:09 left in the 3rd quarter.

The ensuing kickoff went out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders went three and out and Lechler's 58-yard punt was returned 26 yards to the Tampa Bay 40. Freeman capped a 7-play, 60-yard drive with a 4-yard TD pass to WR Mike Williams. The extra point was good and Tampa took a 21-10 lead with 7:12 left in the 3rd quarter.

After a touchback on the ensuing kickoff, the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders drive ended when CB Leonard Johnson intercepted a Palmer pass at the Tampa 32. Two plays later Martin went 67 yards around left tackle for a touchdown. The extra point was good and Tampa Bay led 28-10 with 2:15 left in the 3rd quarter.

Goodson fielded the ensuing kickoff and took a knee in the end zone for a touchback. Palmer engineered a 9-play, 80-yard drive and capped it with a 4-yard TD pass to TE Brandon Myers. It was Myers first career touchdown. The extra point was good and cut Tampa's lead to 28-17 with 14:11 left in the 4th quarter.

Benn returned the ensuing kickoff to the 30. Martin blasted up the middle for a 7-yard TD run. The extra point was good and Tampa led 35-17 with 13:51 left in the game.

The ensuing kickoff went for a touchback. Palmer led the Raiders on a 7-play, 80-yard drive, which he capped with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Myers. The extra point was good and the Buccaneers lead was cut to 35-24 with 9:48 left in the 4th quarter.

Tampa Bay recovered an onside kick attempt at the Oakland 44. A few plays later Raiders DT Richard Seymour recovered a RB LeGarrette Blount fumble at the Oakland 35 with 7:43 to play.  Palmer capped the drive with a 13-yard TD pass to FB Marcel Reece. WR Juron Criner came down with the 2-point conversion on a desperation pass and the Raiders cut the Bucs lead to 35-32 with 3:51 to go.

The ensuing kickoff went out of the end zone for a touchback and Tampa started at the 20. The Raiders held the Bucs to a three-and-out and took a time out with 2:53 to go. Adams returned Koenen's punt to the Oakland 38. The Buccaneers intercepted a Palmer pass and returned it to the Oakland 22.

Tampa Bay took advantage as Martin cashed in on a 1-yard TD run. The PAT was good and gave the Buccaneers a 42-32 lead with 1:49 to go.

CB Coye Francies fielded the ensuing kickoff and took a knee for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. Two plays later, the Buccaneers grabbed another interception and took over at the Raiders 41 with 1:38 to go. Tampa was able to run out the clock and secure the victory.

The Raiders fall to 3-5 on the season and head to Baltimore next week to face the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
