The Oakland Raiders are off to face the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for their Week 1 matchup. It was an eventful week for the team, as they prepare for their first game of the regular season, let's get you caught up to speed on The Week That Was.

Head Coach Jack Del Rio stopped by The Silver & Black Show to talk with Chris Townsend about the team's expectations for 2016.

Running back Latavius Murray also appeared on the show and opened up about perosonal goals for himself.

Justin Ellis Looking Forward To Returning To Louisiana For Matchup With New Orleans Saints

The imposing defensive tackle grew up in Monroe, a city of about 50,000 people just over four hours northwest of New Orleans. Growing up, he enjoyed classic Louisiana fare like étouffée and gumbo, and earned All-District honors twice at Neville High School, before heading 30 miles west and playing his college football at Louisiana Tech.

His life – as well as his location – changed dramatically in 2014 when the Oakland Raiders selected him in the fourth round (No. 107 overall) of the NFL Draft, and for the first time, the Louisiana native moved west.

Behind The Numbers: Jalen Richard Honors A Family Member

With the Raiders set to begin their NFL regular season Sunday, the Oakland Raiders continue to prepare for their matchup against the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The team completed its final set of roster cuts this past Saturday, and among those to make the team was rookie running back Jalen Richard.

The Lousiana native will be returning home to make his NFL debut, and represent an ill family member.


Oakland Raiders Announce Captains For 2016 Season

The team has voted, and quarterback Derek Carr, center Rodney Hudson, defensive end Khalil Mack, and safety Reggie Nelson are the Oakland Raiders captains for the 2016 season.

Head Coach Jack Del Rio made the announcement Tuesday afternoon at the Raiders Foundation Meet The Team Luncheon which was held at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility.

Raiders Place Edwards Jr. on Reserve/Injured

The Oakland Raiders have signed the following two players to their practice squad, the club announced Monday. Additionally, the Raiders have placed DE Mario Edwards Jr. on the Reserve/Injured List.

The Raiders also added two players to their practice squad.


The Raiders will take on the Saints in New Orleans at 10:00 a.m. PT.
