By the Numbers: Carlson comes through, Adams and Bowers shine in second half of Week 2 win

The Raiders got their first win of the 2024 season with a 26-23 road victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

The Silver and Black are now 1-1 heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Carolina Panthers. Here are some key takeaways and metrics from Sunday's win.

Minshew and Offense Heat Up in Second Half

Quarterback Gardner Minshew II completed 30-of-38 (78.9%) passes for 276 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a 94.7 passer rating.

Minshew has now completed 55-of-71 (77.5%) passes in 2024. His 77.5 completion percentage leads all NFL QBs with at least 50 attempts in 2024. Additionally his 533 passing yards in 2024 are tied for the second most in the NFL.

The Raiders entered Sunday's halftime with just 43 yards of total offense but put up 217 yards in the second half. All six of the team's plays of 15 yards or more occurred in the second half.

The 13 fourth-quarter points are tied for the most scored by the Raiders in a fourth quarter since Oct. 23, 2022 against Houston. It was also the Raiders' first double-digit fourth quarter comeback since Sept. 11, 2016 at New Orleans (down 24-13, won 35-34).

Brock And Roll

After posting six catches for 58 yards in Week 1, Brock Bowers played an even bigger role this past Sunday to help secure the Raiders' first win of the season.

He finished with nine receptions for 98 yards (10.9 avg.). It was just the 25th nine-catch performance by a rookie tight end in NFL history.

With 15 receptions through two weeks of play, Bowers passed Amari Cooper (12 in 2015) for the most receptions by a Raiders rookie in their first two career games.

Bowers is one of eight players in NFL history - the only tight end - to record 15+ receptions through his first two career games. His 156 receiving yards are also the most in NFL history for a rookie tight end in his first two career games.

Bowers currently leads all NFL tight ends in targets (17), receptions (15) and receiving yards (156), is tied for first in receiving first downs (8) and ranks third in yards after the catch (58).

Davante Does It Again

Wide receiver Davante Adams led the team with 110 receiving yards and one touchdown on nine receptions (12.2 avg.).

It was Adams' 43rd career game of 100+ receiving yards, passing Cris Carter (42) and DeAndre Hopkins (42) and tying James Lofton (43), Tim Brown (43) and Reggie Wayne (43) for the 17th most 100-yard games in NFL history.

His touchdown reception with just under four minutes to play in the fourth quarter tied the game at 23-23 and tied Mike Evans (96) for the 12th most receiving touchdowns in NFL history.

Adams also logged his 30th career game with 100+ receiving yards and at least one receiving touchdown, the most among active NFL players.

Carlson Comes Through

Kicker Daniel Carlson went 2-for-2 on extra points and 4-for-4 on field goals (53, 51, 25, 38), including the game-winning 38-yard make with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

"Really, hats off to our special teams," Head Coach Antonio Pierce said Monday. "Daniel Carlson going four-for-four was a difference, right?"

It was the third game of Carlson's career with multiple 50-yard makes.

His 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter was the seventh game-winning kick of his career.

Carlson has now made 27-of-34 (79.4%) field goals of 50+ yards since entering the league in 2018, tied for the fourth most in the NFL (min. 30 attempts).

Saxx Crosby

"Game wrecker" is the phrase Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh used to describe Maxx Crosby and the defensive end was as advertised.

Crosby notched his 12th career game with at least 2.0 sacks and totaled a career-high-tying four tackles for loss. He finished with six total tackles and added one pass defensed.

Crosby's second sack came late in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 23-23. A stunt allowed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to take on a double team and free up Crosby to burst through the offensive line and take down Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson for a nine-yard loss. It helped force a three-and-out and return the ball to the offense, who marched down the field and scored the game-winning kick.

Crosby is currently one of three players (Aidan Hutchinson and Alontae Taylor) tied for the league-lead with five tackles for loss this season.

Crosby has played in 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps for five consecutive games dating back to Week 16 of last season. He has amassed an incredible streak of 302 consecutive defensive snaps played.

Per Next Gen Stats, Crosby played a complete game 10 times last season while all other defensive linemen combined for only five such games.

Crosby is the only NFL defensive linemen to play 100 percent of his team's defensive snaps this season. Wilkins currently ranks second at 94.7 percent while Denver's Zach Allen (94.7) is the only other defensive linemen above 90 percent.

Spillane Starts 2024 Strong

For the second week in a row, linebacker Robert Spillane led the Silver and Black with 10 total tackles.

Spillane joins Kirk Morrison and Denzel Perryman as the only three players in Raiders history (since 1987) to record 10+ tackles in each of the first two games of a single season.

With the Raiders down 16-6 in the third quarter, Spillane also pulled in a key interception which led to an Alexander Mattison rushing touchdown on the ensuing drive.

Since joining the Raiders in 2023, Spillane has totaled four interceptions, tied for the second most among linebackers in the NFL over that span.
