Tal y como lo había adelantado el entrenador en jefe Antonio Pierce, los jugadores titulares de los Raiders no participaron en el tercer y último partido de la pretemporada 2024 del conjunto negro y plata. Esto le abrió la oportunidad de llenarle el ojo al staff de coacheo y directiva a elementos que están buscando hacerse de un lugar en la plantilla de Las Vegas, y que mejor que hacerlo frente a unos 49ers de San Francisco que salieron al emparrillado con algunos de los jugadores con los que disputaron el Super Tazón 58 tan solo seis meses antes en el mismo campo del Estadio Allegiant.
A pesar de un primer cuarto complicado en el que los visitantes se pusieron al frente 10-0 con una ofensiva que parecía imparable al contar con el mariscal de campo Brock Purdy, el ala cerrada George Kittle y el receptor abierto Deebo Samuel, en el segundo cuarto las tres fases del juego le dieron resultados a Las Vegas. En primera instancia interceptando a Purdy en su última jugada del partido, un pase que fue defendido por Sam Webb e interceptado por Chris Smith al quedar el ovoide a la deriva. Posteriormente, los equipos especiales sumaron los primeros puntos del juego para los locales con una patada de despeje regresada 81 yardas por Tyreik McAllister hasta las diagonales, concluyendo con una ofensiva de dos minutos para concluir la primera mitad en la que el mariscal de campo Nathan Peterman llevó a su unidad 79 yardas en 10 jugadas, concluyendo con una conexión anotadora con Kristian Wilkerson para disminuir la desventaja negro y plata a 17-14.

Los 49ers tuvieron 16 segundos para intentar poner más puntos en la pizarra y quedarse con la victoria, pero no lograron hacerlo. Este fue el segundo empate de los Raiders en un duelo de pretemporada, el primero desde el 5 de Agosto de 1973 en el que terminaron su partido como visitantes ante Nueva Inglaterra 17-17.
"Nosotros, como staff y nuestros jugadores, tuvimos mucho fútbol americano situacional (en este partido)", aseguró Pierce tras el juego. "Al final de la primera mitad, vimos que nuestra ofensiva hizo un gran trabajo al salir al campo y anotar; recibimos el balón (con la patada de salida) en la segunda mitad y ¡boom!, anotamos otros 7 puntos. Le dimos la vuelta (al marcador) ahí mismo, así que eso es bueno. Luego, la situación del final del juego, ¿no? Tuvimos un error del mariscal de campo y lanzó el balón al césped intencionalmente; está bien, salimos a la cancha y pateamos un gol de campo. Con el campo de entrenamiento y la pretemporada de los Raiders llegando a su final, viene el momento de tomar decisiones por parte del gerente general Tom Telesco y el entrenador en jefe Antonio Pierce para que la plantilla del equipo sea reducida a 53 jugadores a más tardar el martes, 27 de Agosto a la una de la tarde tiempo de Las Vegas y hacer los movimientos que más beneficien la construcción de su escuadra, a su manera y con la intención de poner a los Malosos en la mejor posición de tener éxito en la temporada 2024.
Mientras hay elementos que tienen más que asegurado su lugar en el roster, hay otros que esperan que sus actuaciones durante las prácticas el último mes y los partidos las últimas dos semanas hayan convencido a aquellos que toman las resoluciones finales para hacerse de un puesto.
