Oakland Raiders Mock Draft Tracker: 7.0

I've hyped up the NFL Scouting Combine for at least a month now — it's my favorite NFL offseason event of the year — and after one day in Indianapolis it hasn't disappointed.

Early Wednesday morning, Oakland Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock met with the media to discuss his preparation for the week's activities, as well as the months to follow. The Silver and Black own a stockpile of first round picks, and it's anyone's guess what Mayock and Head Coach Jon Gruden will do with them. While many analysts assume the duo select a bonafide pass rusher with the No. 4 overall pick, recent mock drafts are suggesting the Raiders surprise a lot of people with the pick; let's take a look at the updated Mock Draft Tracker.

Kyler Murray has taken the NFL by storm, it feels like you can't turn the television on or check Twitter without hearing something about the reigning Heisman trophy winner. Mayock told the media Wednesday he thinks Derek Carr is "a franchise quarterback," but there is a small handful of media outlets that's of the belief Murray could wind up in a Raiders uniform.

The former Oklahoma Sooner undeniably had an outstanding season in 2018, registering 4,361 passing yards, 42 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions, 1,001 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. Carr is locked in as the Raiders signal-caller, but it's interesting to see the speculation surrounding Murray.

During Mayock's press conference, he shared what criteria a player needs in order to be on the Raiders' radar, and it all starts with their passion for the game.

"When we're talking about a 'Raiders Star' we're not talking about a star in the sense of a star in the NFL," he said during his press conference. "We're talking about somebody that we think fits what we're looking for ideally as an Oakland Raider. I think every team has it — they call it something different — but every team has the same philosophy, and simplistically what we're looking for is big, fast guys that can run and love the game of football. [Players] that love it, that are professional, they show up every day, they give you a full day of work, and they can't wait to compete and work on Sunday. That oversimplifies it, but to us that's what a 'Raiders Star' is."

We'll see how the rest of the Combine unfolds, but as it progresses it's safe to expect a lot of change to the Mock Draft Tracker next week.

Take a look at which players NFL analysts are predicting the Raiders will select in round one of the 2019 NFL Draft.
