The Las Vegas Raiders' season opener couldn't come against a better opponent.

The Silver and Black will travel to Inglewood, California, to take on the Los Angeles Chargers for Week 1 of the 2024 season. This will be the 129th regular-season contest between the two franchises since their AFL inceptions in 1960 and will be the second time in three seasons the Raiders begin their season on the road against the AFC West rival – having done so in 2022.

Since the Raiders' arrival to Las Vegas in 2020, they've split all of their season series against the Chargers, but have had many memorable moments throughout.

The Raiders rewrote history the last time they played the Chargers, scoring a franchise record 63 points during the Week 15 matchup at Allegiant Stadium. Quarterback Aidan O'Connell threw four touchdowns in the outing while the Silver and Black defense created five turnovers.

Additionally, the Silver and Black's new head coach/general manager duo both have prior history with Los Angeles. Tom Telesco spent 11 seasons as the Chargers general manager before coming to the desert this offseason. Antonio Pierce is an L.A. native, raised in Compton, California.

Just as the season will start, these two teams close out the season against each other on the Raiders' home turf in Week 18. The Raiders' last season finale against the Chargers was in 2021, resulting in an overtime 35-32 thriller that secured a playoff berth for the Silver and Black.
