The Oakland Raiders will return home for their second home game of the 2013 season, as they take on the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 29. Sunday's contest between the two iconic franchises will be their first meeting since 2009. The game will mark the first game of the season for the Raiders vs. an NFC oppponent, and the Redskins' first match up of the season vs. an AFC foe. Oakland is coming off a loss at the hands of the Broncos last week, and Washington fell in close game at home against the Lions.
The Raiders fell on Monday night at the division rival Broncos by a score of 37-21. RB Darren McFaddenshowed off his dynamic style of play, becoming the first running back since 2008 to rush for a TD and throw for a TD in the same game. QB Terrelle Pryorled the offense with a career-high 281 passing yards, including a 73-yard TD strike to WR Denarius Moore. Moore finished the contest with 124 receiving yards on six receptions and a TD. LB Kevin Burnetthad an active game on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with a game-high 10 tackles, and DE Lamarr Houstonadded a sack and forced fumble.

Overview:After winning the NFC East last season, the Washington Redskins currently sit third place in the division with a record of 0-3. QB Robert Griffin III, one of the most exciting and dangerous quarterbacks in the league, is coming off of offseason knee surgery and his team has yet to build upon the success of their previous season. The Redskins are led by two-time Super Bowl winning coach, Mike Shanahanwho, along with son Kyleat offensive coordinator and team owner Daniel Snyder, have turned the Redskins into a perennial threat in the NFC East.
Offense:The Redskins offense is led by QB Robert Griffin III, winner of the Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. Coming off of knee surgery following the 2012 season, Griffin III currently has 975 yards passing and five TDs against four interceptions. Second-year RB Alfred Morris, a surprise weapon last year, has already run for over 200 yards and scored two TDs thus far.
Defense:Currently, the Redskins are ranked 32nd in total team defense. The 2013 Redskins defense is led by veterans LB London Fletcherand CB DeAngelo Hall. Hall is currently the team leader in interceptions with one and returned a fumble for a touchdown in Week1. Pacing the team up front is LB Ryan Kerrigan, who leads the team with three sacks, and fellow LB Perry Riley, who leads the team in tackles with 29.

On Monday night, the Raiders forced their first two turnovers of the young season. DE Lamarr Houston created the first turnover with a sack-fumble on Broncos QB Peyton Manning in the third quarter, and DE Jason Hunter scooped it up and returned it 15 yards. Oakland forced another turnover when LB Kevin Burnett stripped Denver RB Montee Ball and CB Mike Jenkins pounced on it. The Raiders were also able to capitalize on their takeaways, scoring TDs on their next offensive possession. RB Darren McFadden found FB Marcel Reece on a16-yard pass for the score to take advantage of the first turnover, and McFadden ran one in from a yard out to capitalize on the second one.
Kevinand Kaelin Burnettbecame the first brothers to play in a regular season game in the history of the Raiders franchise in Week 1 at Indianapolis. The Burnett brothers are also the only active siblings in the NFL on the same team. Kevin, who is eight years older than Kaelin, joined Oakland on March 18, 2013, following two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Kevin was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2005 and has appeared in 123 games over his nine seasons. Kaelin originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2012 season. Kaelin spent the first 10 games of the 2012 season on the practice squad before being elevated to the 53-man roster for the final six games.
