ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agents DT Ahtyba Rubin and DT Frostee Rucker, the club announced Tuesday.
Rubin was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round (190th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. After spending his first seven seasons (2008-14) with the Browns, the 6-foot-2, 315-pounder had stints with the Seattle Seahawks (2015-16) and most recently with the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons in 2017. Over his 10-year career, Rubin has appeared in 144 games and made 107 starts, while recording 428 tackles (264 solo), 15 sacks, two interceptions, seven passes defensed, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In five postseason appearances, he has tallied 16 stops (nine), two sacks and one fumble recovery.
Rucker spent the first six years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals after being selected in the third round (91st overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Following his tenure with the Bengals, Rucker made stops with the Cleveland Browns (2012) and Arizona Cardinals (2013-17). Over his 12-year career, the 6-foot-3, 261-pound defensive tackle has appeared in 142 games with 73 starts, recording 350 tackles (212), 21.5 sacks, one interception, 12 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. In five postseason contests, Rucker has made four starts and posted 12 stops (five).
In two corresponding moves, the Raiders have waived QB Christian Hackenberg and LB Brady Sheldon.
