Raiders Sign Fullback Keith Smith

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent FB Keith Smith, the club announced Thursday.

Smith joins the Raiders after spending four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2014-17. He has played in 47 games over his career. Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Dallas in 2014, Smith began his career as a linebacker for the Cowboys before moving to fullback in 2016. He appeared in 15 games at linebacker over his first two seasons in the NFL, recording six tackles (five solo). In his two years and 32 games as a fullback, he totaled eight receptions for 46 yards with two carries for five yards.

Last season, the 6-foot, 240-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys for the second consecutive season, totaling five receptions for 26 yards (5.2 avg.).

A native of Covina, Calif., Smith played in 49 games with 45 starts as a four-year letterman at San Jose State from 2010-2013. Over his collegiate career, he totaled 476 tackles, five sacks, nine forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 12 passes defensed and two interceptions and earned a selection to the All-Mountain West First Team as a senior.
