Outlook: Has developed into a solid MIAA football player...has a lot of speed and talent that will allow him to get better every time he steps on the field...has long arms and a very good vertical which will cause havoc for opposing quarterbacks...a great leader on and off the field.

2012 season: Started all 14 games...was named one of eight finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award handed out to the best linemand in D2 Football...was named First Team All-MIAA...was named to the second Team AP Little-American All-American...was named second Team Daktronics All-American...named third Team Beyond Sports College Network All-American...named first Team Daktronics Super Region 3...had 61 tackles (36 solo)...had five quarterback hurries and seven pass breakups...forced a fumble and recovered a fumble against Fort Hays State on Sept. 22...scored his first career touchdown against Pittsburg State on Oct. 20 after intercepting the ball and returning it 55 yards to help the Griffons beat the Gorillas 63-14...had 11.5 sacks...broke the record for most career sacks at Missouri Western against William Jewell on Sept. 8...started a record 50 consecutive games for the Griffons.

2011 season:Started all 12 games...had 55 tackles with 35 being solo...had eight quarterback hurries, four pass break-ups and one forced fumble...was a first team Don Hansen all-American..was a first team Daktronics All-American and AP "Little" All-American selection for the first time in his career...broke a school record with 20 tackles for loss...his 14.5 sacks led the conference and left him one-half sack short of the single season school record...is 1.5 sacks short of the career record with 29...his two, four-sack performances each tied a school record for most in a game... earned MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors twice and was the D2Football.com Player of the Week once...was fourth in the nation in sacks per game at 1.21 and 18th in the nation in tackles for a loss with 1.67 per game...received first team-All-MIAA for the first time in his career.

2010 season:Started all 12 games for the Griffons...accumulated 47 tackles with 29 being solo...had 10.5 tackles for a loss with 8 sacks...had two interceptions and four quarterback hurries...had four pass break-ups...had a career high 11 tackles against Truman State on October 9, 2010...was an 2nd Team All-MIAA selection.

2009 season:Had a solid freshman season starting all 12 games...finished the season with 47 tackles with 27 being solo...had 9.5 tackles for a loss with 6.5 sacks...had one fumble recovery and one interception...led the team with eight pass break-ups and three quarterback hurries...was the 2009 Mineral Water Bowl Defensive MVP as he recorded seven tackles with six being solo, had 2.5 tackles for a loss with 1.5 sacks, had a fumble recovery, an interception and a pass break-up.

2008 season: Redshirted

High School:Played at Univeristy City High School out of St. Louis, Mo...played under head coach Duane Hawthorne...was a talented three-sport athlete in basketbal, football and track and field….second team all-Conference as a TE and DE….captain of both his high school basketball and football teams his junior and senior years….Fab 25 Demetrius Johnson football award for defensive line in Missouri and Illinois….all-Metro football.

Personal:Son of Mardell...majoring in criminal justice...favorite food is tacos...dream vacation is Puerto Rico...favorite professional athlete is LeBron James...best sports moment is catching an 84-yd touchdown pass and dunking on the goal post….one word to describe himself:  beast...his mother has had the most influence in his life...most famous person he ever met was Nelly...favorite movie is "Forrest Gump"….favorite dessert is pumpkin pie....volunteers with "Night Out on the Griffs"….favorite television show is "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"...nickname is DeeJay….David's dream job is to be a CSI detective.
