The Las Vegas Raiders are back home for this week's preseason matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. PT from Allegiant Stadium. Here's what you need to know.
Opponent profile
The Raiders and Cowboys have met a total of 30 times in the preseason, with the Silver and Black winning 19 of those games. Last year, the two teams faced off in the final game of the 2023 preseason. Ultimately, the host Cowboys picked up the win, 31-16.
The Silver and Black may see a healthy dose of Dallas' rookie O-linemen Tyler Guyton (first-round pick) and Cooper Beebe (third-round pick). Both have reportedly been garnering more first-team reps as injuries hamper the Cowboys' starters.
Saturday will be a good test for the depth of the Raiders offense as the Cowboys secured four interceptions in their first preseason game against the Rams. Even while not playing their starters, the Cowboys defense was stout in the first half, keeping Los Angeles to solely two field goals up until a Rams fourth-quarter touchdown in the final seconds.
The QB battle continues
Since Aidan O'Connell got the start last week, Gardner Minshew is expected to get the nod Saturday, based off a previous report from ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
In last week's 24-23 loss, O'Connell went 7-of-9 for 76 yards including a 24-yarder to Jakobi Meyers. Minshew went 6-of-12 for 117 yards and a 20-yard touchdown pass to DJ Turner.
Pierce said he hopes to make a decision on QB1 following the second preseason game.
"We've got to get ready to play football," the head coach said Sunday. "We've got enough film and we'll have two games here to evaluate both quarterbacks to see how they'll play."
Roster updates
On Tuesday, the team signed QB Nathan Peterman and waived/injured WR Keelan Doss.
Peterman, now in his eighth NFL season, previously spent four season with the Silver and Black (2018-21) but most recently was with the New Orleans Saints after two years with the Chicago Bears. As a Raider, Peterman saw action in two regular season games.
