ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have released TE Lee Smith, the club announced Thursday.
Smith, who signed with the Raiders as an unrestricted free agent in 2015, played in 51 games with 32 starts in four seasons with the Silver and Black. He totaled 36 receptions for 248 yards with four touchdowns, including a career-best three touchdown receptions in 2018. He started a career-high 15 games for Oakland in 2015.
Over his eight-year career, including four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Smith appeared in 107 games and made 66 starts, recording 56 receptions for 392 yards and seven touchdowns. Originally a fifth-round (159th overall) selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, the native of Powell, Tenn., totaled 75 career receptions for 791 yards and garnered All-Conference USA honors as a senior at Marshall.
